On last night's evening news there was a report that the right wing extremist who murdered the guard at the Holocaust Museum had child porn on his computer. The story as reported by Pete Williams of NBC stated that the authorites found child porn when they raided his home. They then had to get a separate search warrant to search his computer where they found a collection of child porn. The report said it was not clear whether he was making or distributing the material, but it was noted that he was having financial difficulties.
This is important for a couple reasons. First, there appears to be a growing link between the right wing in the US and sexual deviancy. Earlier this year there was a report that a right wing group in the south was using rape to induct its members. The group was exposed when members were murdered for refusing to participate. Second, if the right wing is using child porn to finance its activities it will be easier to crush both because even the nuttiest conservative will not condone the abuse of children (at least not in public).
