Re: Rihanna on X Factor

Ye are all so bitchy, stop hating on these beautiful talented women. I liked both performances.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

@Muscles4Daze: I agree.

Rihanna's just another musical puppet without Brit Brits gigantic fanbase. Cause if that were the case there would be more people in here defending her other then Digicel.

Lady Gaga was the worst thing to happen to Rihanna. Considering Rhi Rhi was about to head down the 'Good Girl Gone Bad' wtf outfits path Gaga basically stormed in and stole her thunder before she could be 'that bitch' in the mainstream music industry.

But even if you were to strip GaGa of those strange costumes, and leave her with nothing but a microphone, she would still be able to deliver. I love Rhianna, but not for her vocal ability, she really needs to work on her vocals and overall stage presence.

There's nothing wrong with liking either or both or neither of them. My issue is people who take their opinion of a subjective ("I enjoyed the performance") and make it into a factual statement ("It was a brilliant performance"), and refuse to have anybody disagree with it.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

Lets be honest guys.

Rihanna is a much larger fixture in pop culture. Meaning that talent is not needed as much as she, well, fucking exists. Not so much Paris Hilton but you know what I'm saying.

My point is that Rihanna doesn't have to be a fantastic singer (She isn't) but Alicia Keys does because she is not a pop icon like Rihanna is.

I'm just trying to give credit where it is due. I don't know either of them but they both seem like great women. Alicia Keys can/will sing Rihanna underground and Rihanna has that star power over Alicia.

But at the end of the day. Britney Spears is number one. Can she sing like Alicia (Or at all), nope. Has her last album been an international success like Rihanna's? Nope.

But it's Britney Bitch!

Sounds like Ms. Cut & Paste with Whitney Houston.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

Rated R was never a commercial endeavor. It was Rihannas therapy and her label supported her on it.

Rihanna will be back on the Pon Di Replay dancefloor with her next album.
You deserve about six of these
pie_in_face.jpg

First of all if its "Therapy" then why can't Rihanna write a single lyric of her own? If its not a commercial endevour then why did they hire her biggest hit makers Ne-yo and Justin Timerlake to write for her. How is it therapeutic to sing words other people made for you?
No I am very awhare that you are delusional and won't even grasp what I am saying, but Rihanna's album is tanking because she wanted to be edgy but couldn't pull it off like Beyonce and Lady GaGa have... and please remember I use edgy loosely.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

I don't rate that performance at all; really didn't enjoy it.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

I find the comment of Rated R being "not a commercial album" a load of rubbish.

The last "non-commercial" album released by a big name was probably Kelly Clarkson's "My December". It was released against the wishes of Clive Davis (who hated it because it didn't sound "pop" enough). Now, THAT is what I call a non-commercial venture.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

"My December" was a risky move, but certainly not a non-commercial one. It was...well, it was Kelly Clarkson trying to be Amy Lee, actually. And it's not like Evanescence was "over" when it came out.

If you want a "non-commercial" album of recent vintage, I'm voting for Andrew WK's latest. You remember him - of "Party Hard" vintage?

His latest endeavor? An album of instrumental piano improvisations based around his 1955 Cadillac.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

Ok, I have no idea who he is... But certainly very "non-commercial".

But I still think that "My December" was not exactly a commercial album when you consider its circumstances before is release. Clive Davis wanted to scrap the album. Kelly Clarkson in essence told him to fuck off and insisted on the album being released as it was as that was her artistic vision. So Clive Davis retaliated by minimal promotion for that album.

Now, contrast that with the Digicel's view that Rated R was not a commercial album...

Radio_Ethiopia you just showed how completely ignorant you are. Throw a pie in your damn face for that.

Why do you open your ignorant trap without getting the facts first? When you do that you make a complete FOOL out of yourself.

Did you take 2 minutes to even do some fucking research? Clearly not because Rihanna co-wrote 90% of Rated R ok so just shut up if you don't have any facts.

In any event even if Rihanna didnt co-write the album (which she did) you just showing more ignorance because you don't know how the song writing process works.

The music industry is big enough for everyone: singers, song writers, producers, directors, editors, mixers, engineers, every damn body.

What alot of artists do is sit down with a song writer and express all that they are feeling. And then the song writer puts it into song dummy.

Christina Aguillera and Pink have famously done this Linda Perry over the years.

Cold Case Love was written with Rihannas situation in mind.

Your ignorance is just pissing me off right now as i type :grrr:

If you did your frigging research you wouldn't be pissing me the fuck off right now *%%* *%%* :jab: .

Rihanna has done many interviews discussing Rated R and how the album was her therapy and how when she heard Cold Case Love it was exactly how she felt.

Had you done some "bomboclatte" research you would have known that.
___

You know what from now on i am going to stop responding to ignorant posts about Rihanna.

Goodnight.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

These stans are so delusional. Calling it therapy and a non-commerical endeavor is BS. Its just another excuse to explain her poor album sales. If a 99 cent {LOL} deal isn't gonna sell people to buy it how is a re-release w/ some more songs, a remix album and a DVD gonna help. *Counting the days until Graffiti, The Element of Freedom, and Stronger w/ Every Tear comes out*

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

Please note how worked up you are about someone talking smack about your favorite singer. Because frankly, it's kinda pathetic.

People can - and have - written pages ripping apart my favorite acts. With both truths and falsehoods, with facts and opinions, with distorted stories and outright lies. And you know what? I don't care. In the slightest. I'm able to shrug it off and say "Yeah, maybe he/she/they totally suck. That's OK. I still enjoy listening."

Can't you just LIKE the album?
Or does she have to be "right"?
Or do YOU have to be "right"?

Does however-many-Grammys-she-won have to be the "correct" number? Does her chart position have to prove that she's either an unstoppable superstar or a brilliant artist that the public is too stupid to get...you know, depending on the sales figures? Is your ego so fragile that you have to hitch it to some performer's, and ride her successes as if they're your own, and recast any failures as successes-in-failure's clothing?

Can't you just like the album?

I listened to it. I didn't like it. At all.
You did.
Cool. We're allowed to have different opinions.

You'd probably hate my pick of album of the year. In fact, I'll tell you what it is. Manners by Passion Pit. Here's a single from it.

Feel free to slam it into the earth. Hell, I'll get you started It sold about 40,000 copies in a full year - less than a third of what Rihanna did in just one week. It peaked all the way up at #51 on the album chart. The highest charting single was "The Reeling", which hit #35 on the modern rock chart (and barely crept into the Japanese Top 100). The guy looks like Horshach from Welcome Back Kotter, and squeals like Theodore the Chipmunk. You can't figure out what he's singing half the time, and the . They tour from town to town in a beat-up RV, and play dank clubs in front of 300 fans. Most of the band's fans couldn't tell you the name of anybody in the act, myself included.

Guess what? Don't care. Still like it. :)

...that's how music is supposed to work.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

I do not have a problem with anyone not respecting Rihanna as an artist.

And if your comprehension skills were intact you would have realized that what pissed me off was his ignorance.

He was trashing Rihanna without any basis of truth and thats what i took issue with.

I could care less who likes Rihanna; but no way in hell will i allow scum to spread lies about my Grammy award winning princess.

Tell me "she can't sing", or "how unattractive she is" till the cows come home because thats your opinion and you are entitled to it;but i will not stand for lies and baseless chatter.

Get your facts straight before you trash talk the Grammy award winning superstar.

Had Radio Ethiopia did some research before he opened his trap we wouldnt be having this discussion.

Re: Rihanna on X Factor

@ Highlord: Elvis adds his name as a co-writer to every song of his (at least, he definitely did so when he was an established name).

He was supposed to record "I Will Always Love You" and he insisted that his name would be added as a song-writer. Dolly Parton told him to fuck off.
