The ones on your fingers ;)
My boyfriend wears one on his left ring finger and has from the day I first met him and doesn't bug me. Fast forward to yesterday and we were lounging around the house being lazy and we started talking about the fact I wear I collar and he wears a ring and what they mean to us, he meantioned that at first he wore it as a way to say he wasn't interested but lately wears it to he he's taken and in a commited relationship. Later that evening we went back to his place to get a change of clothes for him for today and he hauled down a box (about half shoe box size) of rings and said we must go through it and find me a ring !oops! Well we chose one and work today has been fun explaining why I'm suddenly wearing a ring. Also ment that a few more peope now know I'm gay and to be honest I'm enjoying wearing it
Suppose it's sweet he wants to give me one of his rings and all and I know he means well and I suppose he means it as just a kind of a commitment ring or something like that but can't help feeling that a guy giving me a ring after only 7 weeks is a bit well weird.

To clarify I do love him allot and for the first time I can see a future with someone it's just maybe too soon? Or am I freaking for nothing.

meh

7 days or 7 weeks or 7 months.

It was a sweet gesture.

don't you think there's such a thing as moving too fast?

No.

But I've seen a lot of people end up bitter and alone because they moved too slow.

As Topher points out, it isn't a contractual relationship. It is a sign of affection and commitment. It is only a friendship ring.

Need to identify why you are freaking out because of a ring. Are you freaking out because wearing a ring means you can no longer date/have sex with other people that you have planned for the next few months? Are you afraid to lose your single lifestyle?

I used to think sex on the first date was moving too fast. After reading the recent thread on it, I've realized it just depends on the people. I would think a present such as a ring after 7 days would be a bit too fast, though. Some couples celebrate their "anniversary" after dating for a month...or at least they do on facebook... In these cases, a small present like a ring doesn't seem too extreme...especially since it was one of his. I agree that it's a friendship ring

I think it's touching.

I'd be more worried if he NEVER wanted to give you a ring.

You know what, that reply actually made me think about it, and yes it was the thought of being 'not single' any more. But I think I'm actually okay with that, maybe it was just the thought of things moving too fast but as rareboy said maybe moving fast is a good thing sometimes.

Anyway thought about it a little and the responces from you guys has made me realise that maybe once again I'm just over thinking this, I'm going to keep wearing it and enjoy the fact I have someone in my life special enough to show my commitment too.

There you go! Confront your fears, then you'll know the answer ..|

Everything is a thing to some of you.

Take it for what it is, a sweet gesture. As long as as he didn't get on one knee and propose, I don't see the issue here.

We're all speculating if the ring has a meaning.

The person who gave the ring has to specify if it's a token of affection or ownership? Is it a promise to marry and share 50% of the assets?

or this is always a nice way of saying 'I'm glad you're my friend'

look on the bright side, if he pisses you off or charges @ you when you tell him to chill, you can have something to help you knock his teeth out. diamonds are forever. teeth aren't.

Oh it's one of my 15yo girl inside of me's dreams...That I would share one day a token of affection like a ring with a loved one...

I envy you !!! (yes I'm a bad boy :( )

How is the ring by the way ?

If I marry some day, I think I would like to wear the wedding ring on the right hand and not on the left, to mean yes I'm married, but to a man. It would make me uncomfortable that people would assume I'm married to a women ! I'm alone thinking this ?

Jeez that's so mean. I wouldn't want to damage the ring... I'd take it to the pawn shop. ;)

 for real.... it's funny hearing all the story about guys crying about getting their rings back. well, that's what happens when you love somebody too much. between giving rings in a relationship (not a marriage) and getting a partner's name tatted. don't know which one is worse.
