My blender died. The motor is still good but the cap thing that holds the container on it crumbled. Too many fresh fruit smoothies....I say....too many.... ;)

So I'm looking for another blender and there seems to be complaints about just about all of them.

I found one that looks interesting but it does not have any ratings...

I found it when looking at the other oster's that were rated higher.

Too bad the viking ones are not rated very highly.

I want a blender that will last a long time. I don't like to buy junk over and over.

Oh my gosh dualit makes blenders.....that would match my toaster....hmmmm....wonder how good they are...

hmmmm just noticed that it has been discontinued. :(

Many companies sell re-placement parts--you might check on that if you still like the blender itself.

Thanks. I looked into that. The blender that I have does not have parts available. Which is really crazy. I should have looked for that when I was buying it. That is why I bought a dualit toaster......well that and it makes yummy grilled cheese. :gogirl:

We have a crappy silver one. I should buy a better one but I don't use them enough.

The Oster/Sunbeam is a very good blender I used to sell them and had a very low return on them. Still have one BTW.
The good thing with this brand is that you can get the ice crusher blades, good for making smoothies. Aside from that they sell parts.
Go for it!!!

^ I wonder if that will last as long...

My mother still has the Stainless Steel one she bought when I was a kid...

I've found that it is BETTER to spend more up front -- and replace less...

Just my opinion...

:):):)

Your attachment to your blender reminds me of Enemy of the State.

I recommend the Total Blender.
I have never tried it but the 21237 Million Videos of that guy totally convinced me that IF I buy a blender, it needs to be that one :o

I bought a blender a couple years ago, based off of the Consumer Reports recommendations (as I do nearly everything). I got a similar Braun model as the one listed below. It's a very nice unit--I really like the knob instead of the zillions of buttons.

According to Consumer Reports:

The top performers:

• Oster Counterforms BVLBO7-L , $80
• Braun PowerMax MX2050 , $50, CR Best Buy
• Oster Fusion BRLY07-Z , $80

The Braun PowerMax MX2050 was tops for smoothies and among the best for crushing ice. Plusses include a glass jar and a removable blade. Although tests in March 2004 revealed problems with the plastic gear-tooth assembly, the Braun has passed our durability tests since then.

The highly rated Oster Counterforms and Oster Fusion are both solid choices. Both did a strong job whipping up icy drinks and excelled making smoothies, and were capable at pureeing soup and grating cheese as well. They are convenient to use but are somewhat noisy when running at maximum speed.

The two top-rated blenders--the Vita-Mix 5000 and the Blendtec Total Blender--excel at a number of tasks. Keep in mind that the Blendtec is extremely noisy at its highest speed, and both machines are very pricey, costing $400 each.

Don't ask me. My blender came over on The Mayflower. ;)

Wow! I've got the same one, only in Avocado Green! Love those wonderful 70's colors!

I've got an Ostracizer from the early 80's back in MI; my Mom has one from the early 60's that still works just fine. It has 3 speeds, but is made actual metal instead of plastic.

Metta -- I THINK that YOU are the ONLY person I kinda know -- that LEAVES the blender out ALL THE TIME...

Which is PROBABLY why the manufacturers think that looks REALLY aren't that important...

:lol::lol::lol:

*edit* that sounded wrong -- ummmm -- well you understand --
