If you read up on the absolutely horrific situation Pete Burns found himself in after having that botched lip surgery it's enough to make me understand just a small part of his head space. What a nightmare.

This diary room segment from Big Brother I'll always remember. I've never forgotten the observation about "scratch the surface and underneath is more surface". I've met too many people like that.

Also his thoughts in the end of a person starting their day with "what's my motivation, darling". Classic.

Was he even an icon? He seemed desperate for TV time on clebrity Big Brother and he seemed like he was a mess.

I truly hated that Spin Me Around song....I even asked one of my aerobics teachers at the time if she would stop playing it ....and she did...

I didn't hate him though..never really heard of him. I assume Dead or Alive was a group? Anyway....RIP I guess...

In all honesty, it was a train wreck just waiting to happen. He smoked 40 a day, had a huge drink problem, and was overtly fond of class A through to class z drugs.

I loved Spin me Round and Brand New Lover... he was way over the top...fascinating in many things, repellant in others(there is no universe where his plastic surgery was anything but a total mess of pretty much everything) but he was true to himself and if that cost him greater success, doesn't seem to have fazed him. All those drugs, booze and cigarettes.... guess he did near everything to excess and it was bound to catch up to him sometime. He was a huge middle finger to gender or any other kind of conformity and wouldn't have it any other way. RIP Pete.... though I have a feeling if there is something beyond this life, he's only getting started!

Oh, flashback! Now I know who this thread is about. I was never a fan beyond Spin Me Round, but that's about the only song I heard from the band.

Are we really going to discuss every single has been who passes away? He was a one-hit wonder from when our mothers were teens. His death doesn't change that much, does it, in the grand scheme of things?

It means American TV shows like the Daily Freak Show will have to go out and find new wannabe-freaks to be fully-fledged freaks for our viewing enjoyment.

Yes. The two famous transgressing celebrity-freaks are no longer with us so the entertainment industry needs a new generation of younger freaks to keep us entertained.
