Shortly after 1:00 this morning, Vittoria Elliott, Dhruv Mehrotra, Leah Feiger, and Tim Marchman of Wired reported that, according to three of their sources, “[a] 25-year-old engineer named Marko Elez, who previously worked for two Elon Musk companies [SpaceX and X], has direct access to Treasury Department systems responsible for nearly all payments made by the US government.”

According to the reporters, Elez apparently has the privileges to write code on the programs at the Bureau of Fiscal Service that control more than 20% of the U.S. economy, including government payments of veterans’ benefits, Social Security benefits, and veterans’ pay. The admin privileges he has typically permit a user “to log in to servers through secure shell access, navigate the entire file system, change user permissions, and delete or modify critical files. That could allow someone to bypass the security measures of, and potentially cause irreversible changes to, the very systems they have access to.”

Trump is now actively working against the International Criminal Court. It is no accident that the US does not recognize the ICC. It has protected some of the worst war criminal actions from being prosecuted at the Hague.

But sanctioning ICC staff is a new twist...

And of course, hosting the war criminal Netanyahu at the White House...a thumbing of the nose.

Unless people within the agency find a path to export and save vast amounts of critical climate data, the US will never recover information that could protect public safety and help with climate research.

This as well is an act of savagery and vandalism of the highest order, designed to ensure that Americans remain ignorant of climate change.

The big caveat though is that it may bring down the house of cards around insurance coverage. Across the board, the Us might expect insurers who have relied on much of this data to establish risk and therefore rates.

Don't be surprised if they don't just issue a nationwide exclusion for all weather or climate related damage, injury or death for homeowners.

USAID is likely going to become a litmus test for Executive Power being conferred on unvetted appointees with unlimited powers to wreck stuff.

For the moment, TrumpCo. is suffering a real defeat in real time as a Federal court blocks Trump plan to place 2200 USAID employees on administrative leave and orders 500 USAID employees to be reinstated while this case continues.

The criminal case that Trump was allowed to escape from is the Mar-A-Lago documents case. It was initiated because Trump stole top secret documents from the White House and he refused to return them to the National Archives.

He will exact revenge on the National Archives. The National Archives stores all the records of government. Getting control of the records is a way that autocrats rewrite history- by destroying the evidence of their crimes.
