Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

There is no question that Trump is leading the US directly and arrogantly down the path to war.

Because he thinks the US can win...by just threatening any country or the world with US military and, of course, I imagine he is still itching to use a nuclear device like he speculated doing in his first term.

Under fascism, no one and nothing is safe.

Universities and colleges largely have stayed quiet as the admin targeted DEI & foreign aid, censored research, etc.

Now, they face devastating cuts to funding for research.

They are also likely going to lose thousands of students as post secondary education becomes out of reach for so many.

And they will definitely lose access to some of the best and brightest foreign students who will increasingly see no future in the United States.

They will next lose autonomy in what they teach and how they teach it.

Silence won’t protect institutions. Never has.

Silence and acquiescence won’t protect people. Never has.

Some promising related news.

The Mike Johnson 'one bill' approach that would have accelerated Trump's accession to autocrat seems to be facing opposition from within the GOP.

And with the possible infighting in Congress about approach and who will be top and who will bottom, maybe there is some hope that the framers did create a system so clumsy that it will work to choke off a coup d'etat.

The Fascist Apocalypse is here.

I've been saying for several years, if you want to know what will happen here, look what happened in Germany. We are on the same path.
Der Trumpenführer takes over Kennedy Center. Hitler took over the arts in Germany.

They don't even hide it now. Which means they must be confident of success.

So a wrap-up of where we are 2 weeks in. So much horrific stuff but people are putting in the work to have the third branch of government check and balance the other two.

All of this is temporary and at a higher court could be reduced to rubble until it hits the Supreme Court...but delay and defiance are critical in the first 100 days. Sapping the momentum of inevitability rattles the GQP and TrumpCo. and allows for time for all the people who voted for him to see how their own lives are being dismantled...leading to pushback in the red states.

By now, they must see the mass deportation scheme is a bust, that tariffs are a bust, that freezing payments hurts red states and themselves personally and that even gutting USAID or NIH funding literally blows back into their faces with job losses and collapse of some agricultural markets

For those keeping track of what is going on with legal opposition to Trump, here's another tracker, compliments of NYU Law:

And the tracker that I linked earlier- called appropriately, "What the Fuck Just Happened Today?", which tries to help us keep track of the "flood the zone" going on in Washington:

Watch out for the SAVE ACT and how it's designed to keep Women from voting under the guise of preventing undocumented immigrants from doing so. This is Project 2025.

Women are very concerned that Congress with pass the SAVE Act which will dramatically limit millions of Americans, especially women, from being able to Vote!

The House approved this Act and now it moves to the Senate and some Republicans want this fast tracked

Women may not be able to vote as many do not have a passport and their name on their birth certificate may not match the name on their driver's license.

Most women have taken their husband's surname, as most women did at that time.

Women need to follow this legislation and prepare to vote.

Without Collins and Murkowski, I doubt it will go anywhere in the Senate. The killer is that you would have to provide proof of citizenship to re-register to vote.

And just a reminder about how Manchin and Sinema blocked the Democrats' attempts to expand and protect voting rights in 2022:

Obviously this will likely mark the demise of the Ethics Office in the US government.

Not that TrumpCo. would obey the ethics rules at this point.

I wouldn't fucking trust Collins.

So, to put this into perspective:

The guy who has run around for the past 10 years, whining that the accusations against him are a "witch hunt" and a "hoax", still feels it necessary to get rid of anyone in government who enforces the law and holds wrong-doers accountable.

If he didn't do anything wrong, then why is he getting rid of anyone who investigates wrong-doers?

She protests too much.

I'll just reassure her that I have learned my lesson.
