Rubio says South Africa’s ambassador no longer welcome in US after criticizing Trump

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that South Africa’s ambassador to the U.S. is a “race-baiting politician” who is no longer welcome in the country — the latest sign of tension between the Trump administration and the African nation.

Rubio declared that Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool is persona non grata in a social media post after the diplomat accused President Donald Trump of promoting global white supremacy.

“South Africa’s Ambassador to the United States is no longer welcome in our great country,” Rubio said on X. “Ebrahim Rasool is a race-baiting politician who hates America and hates @POTUS. We have nothing to discuss with him and so he is considered PERSONA NON GRATA.”

For the actual abuse of federal beneficiaries, like Social Security, like those on disability, it's not that complicated.

A bounty hunter department can and should be created to trace online and in person the fraud that exists in the system. Lawyers who are found to be submitting fraudulent cases should be held financially liable as well as debarred. Citizens found to be falsely claiming disability should be exposed and publicized and penalized both criminally and financially. That department can pay for itself and a great deal more.

But, the president has fired the Inspectors General. And he's slashed FBI. And, he's very publicly declared that bribery is a desirable tool. So, there is no adult with an IQ over 80 in this country who believes the Administration actually seeks to drive out corruption. It's just talking points to set up the rape of entitlements, while giving the military industrial complex even more money to waste AND more "tax cuts" for the billionaires already not paying taxes.

Can it be a surprise to anyone that a man who's only "work" was in organized crime (casinos) and fraud (realty), is behaving this way?

^One of the things that has been confounding is this. Worth noting: Trump fired IGs that he appointed in his last term as President.

A bit of history: Inspectors General were created by Congress in 1978 in the Inspector General Act. The IGs have several functions - internal audit, retrospective reviews, optimization recommendations, et al. They are tasked to produce reports to agency leadership and to Congress. They were designed to be independent- appointed by the President but with no party loyalties and they report directly to the head of each agency so that their reports go straight to the top without filter. Because of the abuses in the first Trump Administration, in 2022 Congress amended the original Act to require that the President notify Congress 30 days in advance before firing any Inspector General (S-587/H.R.2662). S-587 was introduced by Republicans and passed with bipartisan vote.

By firing the Inspector Generals without notice to Congress, Trump has violated the law. Yet another impeachable offense that no one is doing anything about.

In mid February, the 8 IGs have filed suit against the Trump Administration in DC Federal Court. They have yet to be reinstated.

The eight inspectors general want a judge to declare their firings by email were "legally ineffective" and put them back to work.

Ware, whom Trump nominated for his post at the Small Business Administration during his first term, said, “IGs are independent — we are nonpartisan, which means that we are the taxpayers’ advocates within each of the government agencies.”

"We save taxpayers about $100 billion a year, and we help improve the programs and their agencies” by cracking down on fraud and abuse and making recommendations to make the government "more efficient,” he said.

Trump knows that he can fire at will, because the Dems are too powerless to successfully impeach.

We all know this.

The Senate would never convict for firing IG's. It also will die along party lines in the House.

Instead, everyone leaves it to the courts to work through the cases with TrumpCo. looking forward to the one that will finally land in Robert's court and hand him another victory to cement autocracy.

I beleive in this and the deportation threads there has been mentions of Trump establishing concentration camps. Apparently the administration must be well along in the process of making these legal if ACLU is trying to get out ahead of it.

It would take nothing at all, once they are in place for TrumpCo. to start to designate any class of people as enemy aliens and incarcerate them by the thousands in what will most certainly become 'work camps'.

Again, this is intended to make its way to the SC.

Someone in the White House is leaking that Trump is about to dig up the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, the same legislation used to create the Japanese Internment Camps during WWII. Sources have been leaking this for 12 months, yet no one has done anything to stop it.

It will give them massive power to use these for any group that is designated an 'enemy' including protestors, or the homeless and mentally ill and why not to LGBTQ for 're-education'?

The US has used 'WAR Against' so many times, for drugs, poverty, crime, 'wokeness'...administrations over the years have been very liberal in applying it to their campaigns

These are the senators who collaborated with the GOP. They effectively turned the power of the purse over to Trump and Musk.

I get that if the CR had failed, it would have given TrumpCo. sweeping powers to decide who and what was essential and resulted in thousands being laid off, but giving Trump the power to continue to unilaterally decide where spending is directed without oversight by Congress will yield the same result as this can gets kicked down the road.

These Senators deserve to be turfed for selling out their voters.

I'm guessing that Schumer looked around to see which Senators could take one for the team.

Gillibrand [D-NY], like Schumer, considers her biggest constituency to be Wall Street. Gotta keep the gravy train rolling.

Peters and Shaheen are not running for re-election. These seats will have strong Republican challengers.

Cortez-Masto [R-NV], Schatz [D-HI] and Hassan[D-NH] aren't up again until 2028.

King [D-ME] is 80 years old and is not up untli 2030. He's likely to not run for re-election.

Fetterman [D-PA] is Fetterman. He's in it for himself.

Durbin [D-IL] is up in 2026 but is considered to be in a safe seat.


I'm hearing that activists groups are lobbying to get Schumer booted out of the Minority Leader position. They weren't big backers and have always been suspicious of his allegiance to Wall Street, but have tolerated him because he's a big fundraiser. His performance over the past 3 months had already put a target on his back. This may be the thing that gets him replaced by a younger, tougher Senator.

Americans should be taking lessons from Hungarians:

A massive demonstration took place in Budapest today against Viktor Orbán’s pro-Russia regime in Hungary.
