It's sickening to learn that Trump's lap dog, Speaker Johnson, had to make a public statement urging the Senate to censure Senator Padilla.

Fuck you, Johnson.

The Senate isn't the Primate House at the Zoo that the lower house is.
 
It's a good time to point out that the House Republicans changed the rules in January. It now requires 9 House members of the Speaker's own party to submit a motion to vacate the Speakership.

That's not 9 members to vacate the Speakership... it's 9 members to file the motion.

They changed to rules to make it next to impossible to get rid of Johnson.

Right now, there are 215 Democrats and 220 Republicans. However, only 212 Democrats are alive since 3 Democrats have died in office in the past 6 months.

If those 3 seats had been filled, it would require only 3 Republicans to vote to vacate to get rid of Johnson.

That's what I've been saying since before the election. The governed are no longer willing to be governed. And it's not just the citizens, but the representatives thereof.

The House has long been an Ape House at a carnival. It truly represents us.

The fact that there is a majority happy to ignore law, happy to claim victory at the very cost of freedom, is the death knell.

Prepare for the conflagration that is coming. There is no peaceful exit now. We are at the precipice. And it's not Donald J. Trump. It is the desperate minority who have intimidated the GOP into becoming extreme in order to seize power. And you cannot purge those millions by defeating the GOP at the ballot.

We will progress to actual civil war. And it is now necessary. Civil government has failed.

I guess the question now is whether "We the People" have the stomach for it, or will begrudgingly submit to the authoritarian takeover.

Obviously, I've given it a lot of thought.

I have no doubt there will be a resistance that will become a guerilla movement once the military expands its control. Even now, the recruited individuals are being asked questions to screen those who wouldn't be trusted to enforce this ideological framework that MAGA is promoting.

Once the left wakes up and realizes that there is no alternative but armed conflict, there will be zones, just as there are sanctuary cities now, and the federal governement will lay seige to those hubs. in doing so, the rest of the nation, the moderates, will choose to either buckle or fight.

If the center fights, we have a hope of survival. If it shugs and plays the Libertarian card, less the liberty, then it will be Live and Let Die, and our republic is lost.

I myself will abandon all and take up the fight when we come to that juncture. We don't need an America to endure that becomes the evil it once opposed. We must have the courage to live the words we so blithely put in our patriotic anthems. If they are only faded glory, then we deserve to be conquered, sadly from witthin.

It sounds petty, but the rule of law has been corroded for some time now, and citizens have been voluntarily complying along narrower and narrower bands of legality. Ethics are not even discussed outside of window dressing for corporations. We actually need a crisis to make people examine their ethos, their selfish ways, their apathy and indifference. If they choose those over virtue, our system should be taken over. It is not worth saving.

Assuming some of our leaders are actually leaders, some will attempt a coup, likely an assassination plot. That will be a flashpoint, and either the patriots will rise to defend the Constitution, or not.

In all scenarios, there will be a bloody uprising. The question is whether or not it will awaken the sleeping.

How are they not filled? What happened to governors appointing successors until called elections may be held. Why would the states allow their seats to go vacant?

She already flat out lied to them during the Signalgate questioning. Cabinet members are allowed to perjure themselves before Congress, 'cuz reasons.

One of the seats is Rep Raúl Grijalva's seat in Tuczon. He died in March after a long battle with cancer. The election for his seat is Sept 23. Arizona has a Democratic governor and the seat is a safe Democratic seat.

Gerry Connolly represented a Virginia seat in northern VA that is home to a lot of Federal workers. He died of cancer in May. The seat is definitely going to remain Democratic, even though the state has a Republican governor. The special election to replace Connolly is in Sep.

The third seat is Sylvester Turner's seat in Houston. Turner was elected in Nov, 2024 and died at the Capitol after the State of the Union address. He replaced Sheila Jackson-Lee who died of pancreatic cancer last year. The special election is Nov4. The governor of Texas is Republican and the seat is reliably Democratic, however Texas Republicans are discussing an off-year redistricting project which may be designed to flip Democratic seats to Republican.

All three of these men were in their 70s. All three had cancer. Two of the men knew they were gravely ill when they ran for re-election. None of the men developed a succession plan.

Turner's story is particularly pathetic. Turner had served for decades in the Texas Legislature. He then served as the mayor of Houston for 8 years. While mayor of Houston, he admitted that he was being treated for cancer, after a member of the press confronted him. After his mayoral term expired, he ran for Congress at age 70.

This is a problem with the liberal wing of the Democratic Party. They have too many politicians who are old. They have too many politicians who seem unable to bow out when their time is up. They are not developing a bench of young Democrats who will be the next generation of leaders. These three seats are safely Democratic and there was no reason why a younger candidate could have run and been elected in 2024.
