Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

Lawrence on James Comey indictment: 'Now the phrase Trumped up charges has new meaning'.

So fascism and totalitarianism is the revenge of the nerds?

The notion that Ellison and his dynasty will control what we see and hear and that he is likely to be part of the group, that along with Thiel, implements universal surveillance in America is chilling.

And....this could backfire for TrumpCo.

They have nothing, it’s basically a he said he said so if both sides stick to their story no jury will convict if the case ever sees the inside of a courtroom. I do wonder if this embarrassment might temper Trumps desire to continue his revenge spree………ah not likely.

Trump and the GQP want a shutdown. I have believed this for months.

Why? Simple. It would give Trump almost unlimited powers. Remember that the ultimate goal of the GQP is to destroy federal government.

Trump could use a shutdown to dismantle government functions, wrote Max Stier, chief executive of the Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit focused on improving the federal government.

If lawmakers can’t reach a deal, Stier wrote, Trump and Vought “will have enormous latitude to determine which services, programs, and employees can be sidelined, decisions that could go far beyond what has occurred during past shutdowns.”

Otherwise though...the impact of a shutdown is relatively limited...with the burden falling onto those working without pay until the shutdown is over.

So this is literally the GQP hijacking government. In plain sight. Just to protect Paedophiles.

Again...so many intersections with other threads but the key here is the expansion of the federal surveillance state.

This company didn't just re-install their cameras for fun. It could only have been the fed agencies that decided that it would happen.

So it is about deportations, about the privatization and outsourcing of the surveillance state with no controls on use of information gathered, and about over-reach of government.

And get ready over the next few weeks for an autocratic assault against George Soros. At age 95, the fact that he is still a personal target of autocrats is telling.
It will fall to his Foundation to have to mount a defense since no court is going to take a personal assault against a man of this age seriously.

In a way, it tips the hand of Trump and the regime. It makes the US presidency look like what it now is...no longer the most powerful presidency in the world...but a tin pot dictatorship tied to the Kremlin like Viktor Orban's vassal state thugocracy.

Yeah, I agree. Trump has already said there will be mass firings if there's a shutdown. I'm afraid he will start at places like Social Security and IRS.

Same guys. Different drag. Trump's thug squad loyal only to him.

Now it is Portland.

Which is not 'war ravaged'.

This is just stright up occupation before decalring martial law.

Now the National Guard has been directed to invade Portland.

War Department indeed.

Sorry for the echo. We posted almost simultaneously.

I personally am not a fan of where the dems have decided to plant their shutdown flag but they should show the strength of their convictions and give the antigovernment crowd the rope to hang themselves as they hate the government far more than average americans do.

Let it get messy and frustrating for people so they get fed up, allow the shutdown to show up in surprising places and hope it goes on for a while as most of the Trump shenanigans will occur in the very beginning and refuse to negotiate until the government is reopened.

Give voters the feel of what the country would be like if Trump ran everything because that’s more likely to lead to mid-term election victories than anything currently on the table.

Anyone want to know the real reason for Trump actually ordering the army to invade and occupy Portland?

It is all about a land use violation.

Scott Pilutik writes:

" The only difference between declaring martial law and what Trump just said is, well... there is no difference. He's asserting the same authority.... Deploying US military domestically violates the Posse Comitatus Act, and the exceptions are pretty narrow, such as to suppress an insurrection. (It's no small irony that Trump himself is responsible for the only insurrection in this country's last 150 years.) Which is why Trump has to characterize Portland as "war ravaged," despite that it clearly isn't. Whether Trump is mindful of circumventing the Posse Comitatus Act or not, he instinctively knows that he has to create a pretextual exigency. One can only hope there are military leaders willing to say no, and say no publicly. They'll have a chance Tuesday at Hegseth's pep rally."

I will bet that none of the Generals at Hegseth's Tuesday's pledge of allegiance rally will publicly object.

Infact, I would guess that a full 50% or more of them are fully in favour of the new hyper masc white boy military machine that Project 2025 envisions for a United States that will become an aggressor nation with a remorseless armed force that will commit any war crime the Commander in Chief demands.

But maybe there will be enough of them to finally be shaken into action.
