Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

Daily Show made mock of this, this week.

But this is where the US is now...some nostalgic look back to a century ago...which was kind of what the Fascist movement played on in the 1930's in Germany.

This false romanticism of Blood and Soil never ends well.

The notion of hearkening back to 'Oh Susannah' and 1890's band music to celebrate the US just doen't ring true in a post-modern industrialized world.

Meanwhile, over in Trump's favorite autocracy:

Child abuse scandal rattles Orban’s image as defender of ‘family values’

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban has for years told his country its children are under attack from deviant sexualities and pedophilia. Now, his government is embroiled in a scandal after it emerged that its president had pardoned a man convicted of covering up sexual abuse at a children’s home.

President Katalin Novak, Orban’s loyal but largely impotent ally, resigned last Saturday amid public furor over her decision in April 2023 to pardon the deputy director of a children’s home who had helped to cover up the abuse of underaged boys. She said she made a “mistake” in “believing that the convict did not exploit the vulnerability of children whom he had overseen.”

Orbån, like Putin, has used religion and morality to rail against homosexuality. His government has also been pushing "traditional" marriage where women have multiple children and work in the home. The cover-up has damaged his veneer of morality and strict Catholicism.

The scandal could knock Orbån and his Fidesz political party out of power after nearly 15 years.

Sex, health, child abuse scandals threaten Orban reelection

Abuse in a juvenile facility, hazardous dust from a battery factory and an alleged sex video involving the opposition leader — the run-up to Hungary's election has so far been dominated by one scandal after another.

Nothing will prevent Orban from winning the election.

The Kremlin will have seen to that.

They aren't going to let their operative in Budapest go down.

Some of the articles that I read last night set the odds at about 50:50.

The parallels to the Republican party and Orbån's Fidesz party and Erodoğan's AKP party are surprising. All three rely upon a rural, uneducated, hyper-religious group of voters. All three have focused upon "traditional marriage" and having women in the home, instead of working. All three have relied upon financial incentives to boost support, even when it is deleterious to the overall economy.

Orbån's opposition, Peter Magyar, is a former member of Orbån's party, so he has insider knowledge of Orbån's tactics. Orbån's is so freaked out by Magyar that Orbån has been boosting socialized program funding to every place where Magyar has campaigned. Orbån has also been putting hidden cameras and recording devices in places where Magyar has been, in an attempt to run TMZ or National Enquirer "leaked" stories in media outlets that are owned by Orbån outlets.

The sexual abuse scandal is likely to be Fidesz's undoing. Women in Orbån's government resigned over the scandal and the cover-up. No man resigned or took responsibility.

50:50 ????

The odds then favour Orban.

Because his older voters hates who and what he hates. And will vote.

I can guarantee that if the narrative that this is an even split out there...OrbanCo. have fixed the outcome to ensure he is the winner.

But fingers crossed here for my friends in Hungary.

That was the odds that Ian Bremmer gave on the election last week:

Bremmer mentions that Orbån is worried enough that Trump's housekeeper Marco Rubio was dispatched to Hungary with pom-poms for a little "Who do we love?" pep rally.

Not a surprise. This is Péter Magyar:

A lot of Hungarian trad-wives would love to see that face on their televisions instead of Orbån.

There's still a month to go before the Hungary elections and there's a lot of mud being slung about.

This is the story about the sex tape blackmail plot (but then again, no one wants to see an Orbån sex tape):

Bremmer seems to suggest that there's two things that the election will pivot upon: the economy (the EU is withholding billions of euros in funding to Hungary) and the moral rot (including the sex abuse scandal).

A turnover in Hungary might be the beginning of a turn away from illiberal democracy and autocratic corruption. The lesson for Americans is that in order to get rid of the autocrats, there has to be a better (younger, more handsome) alternative.

If the election is close I’d agree that the younger better looking candidate helped defeat Orban but if Magyar wins by say 7 points then I’d say that the election result is a reflection on Orban and his long time in office and the opponent matters less.
In the 2008 election given the economic collapse that yr I don’t think John McCain ever stood much of a chance and it didn’t matter who his opponent was…….except perhaps Mrs. Clinton.

1. Bremmer mentions that Orbån is worried enough that Trump's housekeeper Marco Rubio was dispatched to Hungary with pom-poms for a little "Who do we love?" pep rally.

2. The lesson for Americans is that in order to get rid of the autocrats, there has to be a better (younger, more handsome) alternative.
1. Wow. Are Hungarians familiar enough with Little Marco to value his shitty little opinion?

2. Hmmm. Plenty of "us" (people in the U.S.) would probably pick somebody like Hegseth--who looks better than Trump and holds degrees from Princeton and Harvard. That wouldn't do any of us any good. I hazily remember all of the hullabaloo about how Dan Qualye supposedly looked like Robert Redford, and even as a boy, I knew that Qualye was a blob-headed fool. Pfft! [P.S. I'm still laughing at Triple Sec of Defense. That shit is funny! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: ]

  1. It's not that Little Marco is there to represent his own opinion. It's all about signalling and putting the American thumb on the election. During the 2024 election, Orbån came to Mar-A-Lago. There are American political activists in Hungary working with Orbån-friendly groups. Orbån's background is academia and he has not followed the traditional military coup method of seizing power. Instead, Orbån has used the democratic process against itself. Orbån is elected by majorities in the "red state" equivalent of Hungary. He has created a Russia-style oligarchy where Orbån-friendly millionaires buy up the independent press and change it to be Orbån-friendly mouthpieces. Orbån packed the judiciary with judges who will be friendly to Orbån . Orbån keeps tinkering with the Hungarian constitution to expand his power. He has courted Hungarian nationalism, putting out anti-immigrant propaganda and building a fence (aka "a wall") on the borders to keep out migrants. He has put in generous social programs that pay women to stay at home and make more babies and even gives them favorable home mortgages if they follow the "trad wife" template. Hungary interferes with EU politics, acting as a Putin proxy. If some of these things sound familiar, it's because there's a direct connection between Orbån's and MAGA, and an indirect connection between MAGA and Russia. Rubio was there to signal that Trump wants Hungary to re-elect the guy that Trump and Putin want in power in Hungary.
  2. Or a Kennedy. Or Obama. Or Newsome. Just like Republicans like "tough Daddy" types, Democrats love to vote for men they want to fuck. Fortunately, some of the tough Daddies and hot Zaddies both parties have picked have been competent. Trump and his cabinet might have the veneer of toughness and fuck-a-bility but they (fortunately) lack competency.

The fuckable but not competent Rogue's Gallery of the Trump Administration:

Oh, absolutely!

Back when McCain was running, every straight Republican friend I had was not listening to anything McCain said. They were all having naughty librarian porn fantasies about Sarah Palin.

Noem and Bondi both have the same look that straight guys love about women in porn. There might also be a connection to why they like the hypermasculine, Daddy types in male politicians, too.

Well I can't argue that they both look like porn hags that have been rode hard and put away wet.

A terror attack is an excuse to declare the Insurrection Act and invoke Martial law, as well as an excuse to cancel/postpone the election in November.
Totally not surprised der Trumpenführer would put American lives in danger and basically invite a terror attack on American soil.
