I had a bike ride to the cemetery in the morning, and then a train journey to Hull, and I bought a couple of Hull FC rugby shirts.

Now here’s a funny railway story. It concerns a train made up of diesel units, which were a mixture of powered and trailer cars.

“Tyseley allegedly formed up two coupled DMU sets that were due to split somewhere during the day. The first one duly uncoupled and drove off, when it was discovered the other one was formed entirely of trailers. No wonder the driver was left scratching his head when there was no response from the controls! “. 😉

Hi RM! Happy Mischief Night. I was NEVER allowed out then and I'm probably better off for it!

You mentioned last week if I liked working at the Bible camp. I was a very different person then, more spiritual, not openly gay. But at the time I loved it it's a beautiful place. I taught nature to kids and canoeing and I totally loved that
Going there last week was a surprise...there were people there who knew me when...and still like me although not being in touch for years. One of my former campers even was there - that was great!

I think you'll like this. A Substack friend sent it to me.

I’m okay and had a good bike ride today.
Now, about Halloween. You are right, in the UK we didn’t do much about it until about sometime in the 1990’s, or so. I can’t be too precise, but it’s certainly a big thing now.
We also have Bonfire night on the 5th November with bonfires and fireworks. When I was a small boy, I recall a Sparkler firework ending up in my hair, setting it on fire!! It was okay though, since a neighbour put it out with water. No permanent harm was done, and the hair grew back.
Finally, on the night before Bonfire night, it is ‘Mischief Night’. I think you can probably imagine what that means! ;). Again, when I was a boy I did some naughty things including knocking on doors and running away! Of course I haven’t done anything like that since discovering sex and hot guys. :p*|*

LOL, Thad! I only went trick or treating once when I was 8 or 9, but my parents had zero issues with Halloween and trick or treating. My religious schools were another story, but my church would throw a "Hallelujah Night" where kids would come dressed as Bible characters and play games. I'm glad you had a good time working at the Bible camp and that going back brought up those good memories. Cool song too. Neo soul and R&B with a tinge of hip hop. 😎
