A very str8 forward RNC ad

Very unique in that there's no nastiness - no lies

It's effective in its simple and honest message

Obama said he would do XYZ
it didn't work
He tried
You tried
It's OK to make a change

really solid ad

and I applaud its reasonability at a time when Obama's ads are pure cynicism

The ad mentions three points, and Obama has achieved two of them: unemployment is lower than when he took office, and the economy is better than when he took office.

The third point - that he would halve the deficit - he has not achieved, but he did reduce it from 1.3 trillion to around 1 trillion. If Republicans had not blocked moves to increase taxes to wealthy Americans he would be significantly closer to his halfway promise.
Obama won't come close on pledge to halve deficit, CBO says

It would have been a good ad if they has truthfully added two additional thoughts: 1) "In fairness, we did obstruct him most of the way" and 2) "He's failed thus far but you gave George W Bush two terms so why not Obama? Then, we can re-visit this decision in '16"

As I re-consider the ad, it's not that good. Voiceover man has some nice vocals, though;)

Perhaps a more authentic GOP tag line would be, "We started this fire....now, let us try to put it out."

I'll await your re-re-consider ;)

LOL - I'm sure Obama's team will handle some of those points ;)

unemployment at 8.2% is not an "improvement" as he promised lower - and with the new normal which has people NOT looking for work - as in they've given up - the # is several points higher

it's an enormous problem - not necessarily all on BO - but can't be overlooked

Considering that Republican policies had us heading for 15%, 8 isn't bad.

Romney just wants to pick up where Bush left off -- except since the Republicans refused to let Obama fix things, he'll probably manage to get us to 20% in three years.

The CBO is right. How could he with the Bush tax cuts in place a a dysfunctional House of Representatives.

That is what amuses me. Romney offers nothing but increasing military spending and cutting taxes. Last i checked Blanche, that is what got us here.

Incumbents run on their record .......... usually

this one doesn't want to

the ad, unlike your hero's ads doesn't denigrate the opponent - and doesn't tell lies

I think it will resonate

I generally don't get into political ads...I hate them. But, I just saw the Obama ad on CNN with Romney singing America the Beautiful while depicting messages about Romney shipping jobs overseas and his millions of dollars in Swiss bank accounts.

And so I guess, Chance, I did re-reconsider#-o the Romney ad you depicted. The Romney ad wasn't great...not very memorable...but it didn't bother me either. The Obama ad made me squirm...very uncomfortable....my jaw dropped....that is not the man I remember from '08 who ran such positive campaigns against Hillary and McCain. It's like Obama is now the anti-Obama. He really threw mud on the Yes We Can empowerment vision of '08. I will say the ad is memorable, which is typically the goal of advertising, but is that always good? Independent season is upon us...red meat for the party hardcores is out of season, it's time to reach the last 10% (or less) with lobster...this ad was more like a stale bologna sandwich. I'm all aboard on the O-train, but Team Obama Marketing might want to drop this and look for a better vision.

^ i feel the opposite for indies

the republican ad says simply

he said he was gonna do this
what has he done
do you want another 4?

vs. romney is the boogeyman

reasonable people know that # 2 is scare tactics

i agree with everything u said except the conclusion

the olympic ad is brutal - the morning joe team (mostly liberals) couldn't believe how fucked it was

Hi, chance1. Can you be mindful of how many threads you're starting with a similar theme like this? When 1/5 threads on the first page are authored by you, it begins to get tiresome.

Hussein's active encouragement of immigration, legal and illegal in a time of high unemployment proves that he does not have American's best interests at heart. Here is the border patrol telling how he has destroyed efforts to enforce the border.
This panders to the Hispanic voters and nothing else is important to him. He is more than willing to throw Americans under the bus.

Being that Obama's only choices are signing or vetoing legislation brought to his desk, when is the finger going to be pointed at the Legislative Branch ... more so Republicans for their obstructionism?

honestly what is YOUR problem ?

is it the # of or the topics or both?

should I run the topics by you?

now if u were Centex and I wanted to get under your skin I would simply refer to myself as a "thread CREATOR" ;)

I honestly don't know the size/scope of the object stuck up your ass but I wish u luck in removing ...........it if that's your wish ;)

to look at the bright side, glad you liked The Newsroom thread - it's a fun show

Happy Friday

Obama has run a very nasty campaign so far. The bad thing -- it will only get worse.

But there is hope -- his poll numbers have not increased since his attacks on Romney -- even gone down in some states.

It's going to be a very long 3 months -- no matter what your politics are.

That's someone with WAY too much time on their hands. From this forum you can see who really needs to get a life.
