Road rage--how do you drive?

I don't want to sound like a goody two-shoes, but I try to obey the speed limit laws. There's no need for me to have a stroke getting pissed about someone else's driving. You'd better watch who you flip the finger to. They might answer you with a gun.

Now, 20 years ago I would have answered this question differently.

After I got my licence in Australia, my Father made me attend a Defensive Driving course. I am glad he did. I drive a few kms below the limit, I make sure no-one runs into me, I have never run into anybody, I have never received a ticket, I have not lost points, I have the max No Claim Bonus (at 26!), I don't allow f-wits to upset me, and I make allowances for little old ladies and anybody wearing a hat.

This does not make me goody two shoes but it does make me alive, a condition I intend to maintain. And, believe it or not, I would like to think that my driving will allow all other road users to reach their destination safely.

I do not claim to be a responsible driver ^^^who only exceeds speed limits by 50 kms/hr then gloat that they have rear ended or given "love taps" seven times, besides my trusty auto is not a hoi polloi 4WD, the drivers of which think they own Heaven AND earth.

I'm still learning, but my driving style is very careful, I stick to the speed limit, either a lil above or below and I try to be tolerant of stupid people and drivers, which really pissed me off when people aren’t tolerant of me when i make mistakes, I’m still learning!

I prefer assertive. I used to be aggressive as hell, but rarely tailgate anymore and keep speeds down in certain areas.

Just because I can handle a car at higher speeds than a lot people consider normal doesn't mean I'm dangerous.

After reading some of these posts, it is no wonder insurance rates are sky high. As roads and highways continue to become more and more crowded with cars, it is also no wonder that more and more states are making "road rage" a crime. I used to brush it off and once took the position of an aggressive driver. After I bailed a few friends out of jail and watched them struggle with suspended licenses for long periods of time and/or become "uninsurable", I changed my ways. Guess it depends on where you live and the local laws.

Road rage isn't as big a problem as inadequately trained/clueless drivers. Those people cause WAY more problems than aggressive drivers.

If that problem were addressed everyone would be much safer.

Treat the disease, not the symptoms.

exactly!!! those signs are posted because they are the maximun speed to drive.. these are not simply a suggestion....

GRANNY DRIVERS UNITE! *

* ok.. I'm not really that slow of a driver.. but I find that those that speed on past me are usually waiting for me at the red light.

In the words of Ludacris...

Move bitch get out da way! Get out da way bitch, get out da way!

I drive all day long for my job and I drive defensively! Living in Atlanta, where traffic can be horrendous, I've learned being aggressive and getting angered accomplishes nothing, except to put myself and others in uneccesary danger!

I flew by a cop going 120+mph and talked my way out of the ticket and court appearance ;) I'm an aggressive driver. But I am safe about it.

Nice Audi!

I'm not one for the profanity or the finger. I make my move and then they have to deal with the sheer perfection of my driving.

But I have to adjust it a bit now. I just sold my supercharged BMW and my ol' Saab just doesn't have the same power or handling. I have to remind myself of that.

I personally can't stand slow drivers or drivers who don't respect drivers who are on motorbikes. Normally I drive around 120km,. but what pisses me off is when you have these nimrods who are doing less than 100km in the passing lane.

I'm generally a pretty go along get along type of driver.

Here in Texas after they passed the "Concealed Handgun Law," incidences of road rage decreased after it was reported that several drivers on Central Expressway in Dallas were being shot at. ;)

Which is the exact reason that I don't carry a handgun! Because there have been several instances where, if I had one my glove compartment, I would have used it!

My favorite Bumper Sticker reads:

Pardon My Driving I'm Reloading!

"Pardon My Driving I'm Reloading!"

I see fact is scarier than fiction. =]

I like to think of myself as a moderate (most times). If the speed on the interstate is 70, I'll usually go 79. Except for on I-95 in Florida, for some reason I feel the need to go as fast as the interstate shields say (95) instead of the speed limit says (70).... But on surface streets, it's usually the speed limit to five above.

looseliam, I had a Saab once myself, and my dad drove them for over 20 years. I think they were great old cars!

I ride my motorbike as fast as possible, but as it isn't very fast that is not so dangerous.
