Robertson Blames Rise In Use Of Anti-Depressants On People Not Believing In God

Oh well, this should be fun. He really needs a session with reality.

What did such people do before antidepressants?

At least antidepressants aren't the cause of people not believing, which is what I thought he would have said.

I am both a rather exacting atheist and have used anti-depressants for years in the past . If reality made sense , if there were a reason for this for me it would be much easier . I do derive some sick pleasure in denying myself comforting delusions . Funny effect that in disagreeing with theists I am at a very distinct disadvantage ( my mother , my aunts , my cousin ) because I will not argue that a comforting delusion is a delusion . I am grateful for anaesthetics . Comfort is comfort and believing in God is doubtless cheaper and doesn't need a prescription .

If they gave yearly awards for saying stupid things, Pat Robertson would win every time.

Do you think he would stop nominating himself after winning so many consecutively so that others could win?

Some people are so unbelievably ignorant.

The irony is that if Christians were Christ-like there might actually be less of a need for a lot of medications. It would've helped me if several of my bosses had been true Christians.

I don't believe in the lord, and I don't require anti-depressants. Anti-psychotics, perhaps; at least I'm happy :P

Nah the rise is anti - my own life drugs are up in use because of the "it aint my fault" generation, non competitive, non- patriotic, non parented blobs that were medicated throughout childhood instead of challenged.

but I really dont have a strong opinion on the issue.... =P

I'm staunchly an Agnostic Atheist and have found my life to be wondrous in ever sense of the word. I've never taken any of the sort nor feel the need to. So this man seriously is lacking a lot in terms of comprehension.

Oh please don't hold back on our account.

Tell us how you really feel about this.

With respect to Robertson, it has been noted before that religion is the opiate of the masses.
