Robin Roberts, Jason Collins,Derrick Gordon, Michael Sam dating white gays why?

This is what is sad so few black gay public figures that are out and they ALL date whites that is messed up. How is it being a pioneer screwing a white man? Do you think black people do not give a side eye to these oreos? It also sends a bad message to black gay and lesbian you sleep with whitey and you get mainstream acceptance.

"oreos"
"whitey"

You're on my ignore list now, but be happy.

Just stop, we get you're a racist.

According to my sociology and history classes, it sure does. Someone has to break the barriers until a thing becomes commonplace.

Heck, my grandma's talks about how none of the Swiss around here would let their kids date any Irish for a long time. That got ended because there were Swiss Roman Catholics who had no problem with their kids dating other Catholics, even if they were Irish. Several generations later, everybody in the valley is pretty much related, so it doesn't matter what the last name sounds like.

Black gays wanting whites is commonplace.
Famous black celebs dating and marrying whites is commonplace.

What is NOT commonplace is gay celebs or white celebs in general dating blacks

What is NOT commonplace is gay black celeb pairings.

"Do you never find white men attractive?

Should I dump Noah if he becomes famous so you feel better?

Which combats racism more you complaining about interracial couples, or the existence of visible interracial couples?"

--Logan, who resents being called a "twink" by his husband.

To that twink Logan's questions Noah would add:

What is the goal of this thread?

What if every black person that dates/marries/fucks a white person just really likes white guys to the exclusion of all others?

How, barring, rude/insulting language to describe this preference, does it effect you?

These are serious questions.

Wait: we got it. Maybe this isn't complaining necessarily about the couples in question or interracial couples in particular, but about the lack of black gay role models? If so what about dating a white dude makes one an unacceptable role model? (Ignoring the Lesbian thing as what Noah wants to call "lesbian sexual culture" is less racially stratified)

All three of these collaborative posts are working under the assumption that this thread is not trolling/shameless race-baiting.

1. Go look at the numbers again.

2. If it was "commonplace", there wouldn't even be this discussion.

"Logan" is a HOT name!

It's also one of those wonderful names that can be a first name, middle, or last. In college I knew a Logan Adams, a Bret Logan, and a Matthew Logan Anthony. We joked if they somehow all had a kid, they could name him Logan Logan Logan. :D

The premise of this thread is a common one among humans: that others should live up to their expectations, and it's okay to get offended when they don't.

They own themselves. They made their choices. Get over it.

Commonplace as in it is expected..
Which numbers are you looking at? Percentages? How many gay black celebrities (whoever they are) have black partners?

Your comments fly in the face of race relations in the United States. For blacks to prefer white partners is not odd and it is not a barrier that needs to be broke. The barrier that needs to broken is for black gay men to be seen as desirable as any other race, particularly white men.

THAT is the salient point buried under Morrisey's garbage. That black gay men are not seen as desirable by much if not most of the gay community.

So when these gay black men get famous and have white boyfriends, the perception of SOME minorities is that now that they have attained a status that puts them further up on the ladder of desirability in the gay world (whether that is due to their fame, fortune, etc.) the rest of us non-celebrity blacks are not worthy. That now that you're part of the "club" (whatever club that may be) you have snubbed your nose and turned your face from us like the gay white community does. And that is not based on logic but pure emotion. That is why Morrissey fights so hard in these threads.

I don't think white individuals, or even individuals who are not American, understand the consequences of race relations in this country from the other side. White gay males see an affirmation of their desirability every day. It's in magazines, billboards, commercials, porn, etc. White is portrayed as attractive everywhere. The absence of blacks and the absence of black gay males in all of these venues gives the opposite effect. Not only that, but in a gay world obsessed with looks and sexuality, black males are painfully absent and flat-out rejected often purely on the basis of skin color and ethnicity.

So how do gay black males deal with this? They either get over it (I like to think I've reached this point). They seek out white approval (subconsciously or consciously). They continue to struggle with it psychologically . -OR- they become resentful (Kane and Morrissey)

I'll stop rambling and reply again more concisely

I've rambled

The reason we have this discussion is BECAUSE it is commonplace from the black side. I'm 100% sure the percentage of black men seeking or open to white partners dwarfs the percentage of white men seeking or open to black partners.

Noah nobody cares who you are dating. Why are you getting so upset? You are not famous The discussion is about black gay public figures. Whether people want to admit it or not celebrities influence pop culture. I think these black gay celebs are saying a lot by only dating whites.

Which has nothing to do with what I said?
I like all races. I've been with all races. Neither am I complaining about interracial couples

Perhaps if we saw a lot of black celebrities having had long term black partners they abruptly dumped to bring white dates to photo ops after gaining their fame, there might be a more credible distinction here between "it's totally different from individuals, when celebs do it they're showing how much more they've risen in social status." But all you really seem to be saying is that celebs are somehow not individuals just like Noah or anyone else?

Yeah -- they're saying they not racists like you.

I just want to say that I agree with MUCH of what you have said.

The part I quoted really hit home though, because that is REALLY all we can do. As we all see (each time these kinds of threads appear), there may be SOME educating/enlightening, etc. but at the end of the day...people are just going to have an "I'm doing me" attitude.

So (as black gay males), we just have to take the approaches mentioned above. It's fine to have a dialogue about it, but you can't force people to see what they don't want to see/understand/or empathize with.

but going back to the quote above, i think the first option is best. Lost the ability to give a damn. My entire view changed. :)

I agree with most of what Lucky has said. And even think I sort of get Morissey at times--when he is neither being racist nor troll-y.

BUT in real life, says that despite easily half of gay male hookup profiles expressing racially discriminatory attitudes gay men are more likely than their heterosexual counterparts to be in interracial relationships an to have dated/screwed outside their ethnic group. There are raw numbers on this if anyone is interested.

And please o not interpret anything I've said as arguing gay male culture in the United States is not strange/unpleasant on the subject of race.

Every additional post you make in this thread makes you sound more racist. You're not persuading anyone at this point.
