Great News for Yankee fans!
Once Andy P. came back from Texas I fiqured it was just a matter of time before Roger Clemens packed his bags and joined him. It's great news the Yankees who are finally coming to life these last few days.
Roger played for the Yankees for 5 years and won 77 games..|
By the way, Andy P. says he did not know Roger was back until the announcement today.
I am a die hard Mets fan, but I am happy for all my buddies who are Yankee fans.
See ya in October at the Subway series;)

I wish he woulda stayed in Houston or gone to Boston, now I'm gonna hear it from my entire family (all Yankee fans). As for me Let's go Mets!!!!!!! David Wright is up with a runner on second.. go David!!

eh let the greedy bastards go back to the yankees, I dont see what the big deal is with those two.

I thought the Yankees were being fiscally conservative - LOL

Sigh. And I was having fun watching the Yanks lose game after game because they have NO PITCHING!

I went to Friday's game vs. the Mariners. It was a total brutal slugfest! The Yanks have the bats but with a weak (and hurting) set of starters and a bullpen full of melon-lobbers, they get outscored every time! Friday's game was sad for Yanks fans, but I got awesome seats (10 rows behind home plate) and I relished in my enemy's defeat. They're 6-4 in their last 10 though, so maybe the slump is ending.

Clemens is just what the Dr. ordered for the NYY pitching staff. Bitches!

18.5 Million for like four months work. Somone fiqured that out to be
$900,000 per start
$150,000 per inning
$9,000 per pitch
Not bad for a part time job

I would agree, he is after all a 7 time Cy Young award winner, and hasn't he won something like 350 games?.
I am one of those odd-ball Mets fans who also watch the Yankees
(when the Mets are off) That's because I am a baseball fan first and a Mets fan second.
I sure hope the Rocket can stay healthy, I look forward to October and a subway series. Glavin vs Clemens, ah now that's baseball..|

They did really well keeping it from the New York media too.

The Yankees are a bit of a mess at the moment, so the Rocket needs to get to full fitness pretty quickly.

Well ya know it's all about the pitching. I think the offense is decent, but the pitching, not so much.

What a phony. Just say you went where the most money was offered and spare us the inane so-called reasons. He has ALWAYS gone where they offered him the most money. Since he's back in New York, maybe he'll give back the Hummer they gave him when he retired from the Yankees the first time. He can also leave the team on his off days and go back to Houston to see his family. The Yankees wouldn't do that for him last year. They are really desparate- I hope he wins zero games.

I wasn't surprised that he went back to the Yankees. I knew once Pettitte was gone, so was Clemens.

I hope Clemens didn't plan it like he did because Houston was already crushed that the Rockets once again couldn't get out of the first round.

Right now I'm not a fan of the word "Rocket(s)"!

Once Clemens begins pitching again for the Yankees, will be the starting pitcher in every game from that point on througout the remainder of the regular 2007 MLB season?

That's not how it works, no pitcher could ever do that. Roger will be in the rotation with the rest of the starters. Actually his deal gives him the option not to travel if he chooses not to, so he may not even pitch as many games as he normally would. His first start will be arounf the first of June.

I loved what Letterman said last night:

Clemens got a great deal and the best news is...wait for it.... He gets October off
:p

I have a bad feeling about this

Clemens getting so much money
Clemens being away from the team more often than with the team (likely)

The Yankees look desperate on this one

28 million for a 45 year old pitcher???

I feel the same way, he is going to be under a lot of pressure to win games
I also wonder how deep into the game he will last.
He threw a 46-pitch batting practice session Tuesday at the University of Kentucky. Later he said " "The arm feels good, Right now I've just got to get that soreness that every pitcher understands. I've got to get it in my legs and out as quick as possible so that I know I can handle the stress of a major league game." Well, maybe he can but I just dono, it will be tougher than he thinks.
As for being away, he kinda has the same deal with the Astros, just not sure how the other guys feel about it.
I'm just surprised George went along with this, like you said they must be desperate

George Steinbriner is desperate... but then again, if he would let the people that know what they're doing do they're jobs, he wouldn't be in this spot in the first place

Oh man, you got that right!
George is the king of micromanagers, which hurt productivity and morale and often drive others away. But when it comes to George, whata-ya-gonna-do.
