Roman Catholic Bishops vs. Religious Freedom

^ You're wrong on two counts. Firstly, the church aint being ordered to do anything but provide for their employees health. Secondly, humans are not being killed, its the fetus that is killed. You can quite rightly say that, that is besides the point, and i'm merely being pedantic, but at least i'm not embellishing the truth or blowing the situation out of perspective. Your comment above clearly shows that YOU are.

Neither fertility nor pregnancy are ill health. They are totally consistent with perfect health. Abortion however is not "health". Not good for the mother and diasterous for the infant. Under most circumstances, birth control and abortion are optional, while contaception is often just recreational.

^^

I'm sorry Mitch, but you're wrong. The HHS mandate requires religious organizations to pay for medical procedures and products that are against their religious beliefs.

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion - US Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I keep pondering this and think that if it goes to SCOTUS, it will be 5-4 in favor of the church. I know Thomas isn't bright enough to suggest church-run insurance; I doubt Scalia is -- but Roberts is showing a creative streak that just might make that suggestion in his opinion. That would be the best outcome, and the Roman church is easily large enough to run its own insurance program.

Not a solution. The Administration would require the church insurance companies, and the church by premiums, to pay for the pills.

It's not just the RCC that is in this. Many other church bodies oppose this.
