This whole Republican pandering to the right is very tiresome. Can't these people just go back under their rocks?

Tony Grew

A candidate for the Republican party nomination for President of the United States has said that he thinks a child would be better off with a dead parent rather than a gay one.

Mitt Romney, a former Governor of Massachusetts, was speaking at a college in rural Iowa.

Mitt Romney is a piece of shit. That is all.

well... he is a republican after all.

these sort of remarks are par for the course.

Mitt Romney speaks to the converted and never to those of us who believe that a loving parent is always discovered being everything that Mr Romney rejects, as worthy of being loved.

Well, he didn't say it in quite so blunt terms, which is something at least. Didn't just say "Kill them there gays! They've got kids! Do it for the children! Yeehaw!"

Or whatever.

"I believe that maintaining the strength of the marriage relationship, the family relationship, is critical to the strength of an entire society," he said, according to Rocky Mountain News.

"And I believe that the development of children is enhanced by having a male and a female as part of their upbringing in their home.

"Even when there's a divorce, you still have a mom and a dad.

"And even where one member of the partnership may pass away, the memory and the characteristics of that gender, of that partner influence the development of a child.

But to be honest, he's being a moron. All these guys use tired arguments which are defeated time and time again by one tiny little parody:

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.
10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

OMG.

The article called him a "Mormon". I think that is very insulting. Newspapers nowadays are just so unprofessional. Name-calling! Seriously! They should have stuck with their original, less vulgar, insult -- "dumb-face, retard whose momma was so fat that God had the Rapture twice to get her ass up to heaven" and "stinky".

I think it was a typo ... they just left an extra "m" in there.

This is also coming from that man who pulled over to the side of the road and cried when he found out that the Mormon church let African Americans become priest.

See, the problem with me being left wing is that it kinda goes against my morals to kill people like him.

Talk all you want about Freedom of Speech, but I'm so glad that this kind of brainwashing, moronic, insulting, and hateful garbage is illegal in Canada. No citizen deserves to be treated the way they are treating gay Americans.

The terrible truth is that we would all be better dead
than with Mit Romney as our President. Glad we know that
going into the election. Vote often.

 saying something like this would be illegal in Canada?

At one time, it would be a death knell to the politician who spoke those words. Now, it could be construed as 'hate speech' and, therefore, is illegal.

Either way, politicians don't get away with that up here.

As former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau said way back in 1967, long before he was elected Prime Minister the first time, “The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.”

Too bad Romney wasn't raised by gay parents. Straight parents keep turning out freaks like him.

mitt romney is a twit who needs to just die. That is all
