He is demanding a constitutional amendment to entrench discrimination against a small and embattled minority, but claims judges are "attacking" marriage by allowing gays to participate in the institution. And he sidetracks the whole issue by focusing on parenthood. Many couples, gay or straight, have NO desire whatsoever to procreate...that has NOTHING to do with whether or not people can or should get married.

Having met and talked to several right-wing christians, I can see where this is coming from. You guys have to understand that they love the fire and brimstone speeches. Of course this is used a scare tactic to get people to donate to the church (atleast it was in the 1600s and earlier). Not to mention many of them lack the capacity to think for themselves.

I think you meant mother and father, and this is the real fucking world there isn't a happy straight couple waiting to adopt all parentless children. So when it comes to some children the choices for them sometimes are crappy Bio parents, horrible broken system, or gay couple that is fairly well adjusted. In many cases a gay couple is the best choice so why the fuck shouldn't they adopt.

To not read Gov. Romney's remarks as anti-gay is to misread the code of American politics in religious matters.

This response hits the nail on the head!

As much as politicians prefer to claim otherwise, childrearing and same-sex marriage have little to do with each other. Talking about each child needing a mother and father is just mild sounding code for speaking out against same-sex marriage. Gay people already do and will continue to have, adopt and raise children regardless of their ability to marry. Republican voters somehow think that prohibiting same-sex marriage somehow changes that.

I live in Florida where it is illegal for homos to adopt children as it is assumed that gays must be sexual deviants. Rosie O'Donnell had to move out of Florida to keep her children. Last year a young lesbian mother died an awful death so not only did her partner lose her partner, but she also lost her child as she was not allowed to have custody of her partner's birth child after her death. And best of all, Florida has an awful foster-care program notorious for people putting children in cages to collect checks from the State. The State is willing to try anything to get these kids adopted, even offering free college and healthcare for them...as long as homos don't adopt them.

There is something terribly wrong with these dreadful people. Good riddance, Mitt!
