The Brits were the ones who were insulted. Romney has a habit of insulting people. Yeah, he'd be a great President.

I think quite possibly he was referring to the Olympic request for the government to provide actual soldiers because they failed to hire enough security personnel. Was that story completely off the mark?

It was a problem that was fixed before the opening ceremony. Using private firms for public spectacles has been dealt a blow as they didn't recruit enough people and the squaddies were brought in. Which I think was a brilliant idea because having four thousand troops nearby is a big deterrant to any terrorist groups planning something. Problem solved before opening ceremony.

He went on about passport checkers strike as well. That was called off before he made his remarks. Seems the man didn't put brain into gear before putting mouth into motion.

The Brits don't have to be diplomatic. They also don't have to like a political candidate who insults them.

He fucked up, pure and simple. He demonstrated that he is not ready for the role of walking on the world stage. For all of his money...he is a provincial rube without any sense of how to really connect with any constituency.

Oh. And enough with the horror stories of British 'incomptence' at the Olympics. Every Olympics has the same stories...even those on US soil.

Even if Romney was right...it doesn't make him smart. A smart player would have said that they have every confidence that the City of London would manage to solve all the glitches and mount a great Games.

they asked him about the OLYMPICS - he successfully ran an Olympics - which we never hear about - instead we get the decent speech he have to KIDS about competing in the games - thanking mom, dad, sister, coach, etc - and that's twisted by JUBBERclubbers here to be "you didn't build that" equivalent - you have to brain dead to compare the two but by all means brain dead fits the bill

When you base your entire party on the idea that government is bad and being a private businessman is good and then the only thing that ALLOWS you to salvage an event is a government handout. Well that completely wipes off the map the idea that successful business knowledge and techniques will salvage our countries economy while spurning all government assistance to the process. The stimulus spending that SAVED this country from severe depression is a MAIN point of argument for the righties. Now THEIR candidate did just the same type of program for his self proclaimed smashing success. A sixth grader can work through the multitude of reasons the right is talking out of both sides of their mouth. They actually love government spending if it benefits corporations (by lack of taxation), jobs (by expanding the military spending dime) and their paid for sponsorship in any way they can 'help'.

For the people by the people not for the corporation supported solely by the people.

Another way Romney padded his own bank account was by taking out millions in loans for the steel mill in KC with full knowledge he would dismantle the plant and cash out. THAT was all forgiven tax payer loans. And to boot the company he "rightsized" dumped all the pension requirements from the union on the local taxpayers as well.

That is smart business at its finest i will agree BUT it is not how to lead the people.

I honestly don't know what to make of the whole Israel trip. Any person familiar with international relations realizes that to call Israel an "ally" of the USA is laughable at best. Unrequited love sounds better. Romney is off his rocker when talking about any special relationship we have with them that isn't religion-based. They've been considered "intelligence enemies" of the USA by the CIA for over 40 years starting with the USS Liberty attack during the Six-Day War. Did Israel support the USA in any other conflicts we participated in since Vietnam? Has Israel done anything the UN has told them to do?

Romney needs to brush up on history.
