Crazy Uncle Ron is getting more attention - now that he leads in Iowa and looks like he at a minimum will be a major playuh at the convention

as the stories go ........

1 - he's personally uncomfortable around gays

2 - back in 1988 he didn't want to use the bathroom of a gay man who was a supporter of his

3 - he didn't want to shake the hand of a gay supporter
and there's more

it's old for sure - but lame

Did you see Bruno? He's in it and he calls Bruno a faggot. And is beyond freaked. It's funny---but clearly he's a homophobe.

Beyond homophobic, he chose to use a fast food restaurant bathroom that would have been used by thousands of strangers, many of whom would have been gay, over the personal bathroom of a known supporter. For being homophobic, it's not even rational. I suppose he's never really safe unless he builds a bathroom from scratch and controls every person who enters it, that is unless, he himself is gay, in which case he would contaminate any bathroom he builds.

Whoever is our commander in chief needs to be brave enough to shit and piss wherever, whenever.

Yeah, there's something going on there besides homophobia. I've never met a homophobe who will sit around and talk and joke with gays, but then all of a sudden won't touch them or use the same toilet seat. This strikes me more as a pathology something like the character Monk (TV show of that name), who has things he likes but won't touch.

I was more intrigued by his attitudes toward Israel and Jews.

I saw the Bruno clip and was uncomfortable by how Bruno was acting towards Ron, but that is his gimmick. But I was also taken aback by Ron's choice of language towards him as opposed to simply ordering him out or calling security.

But I do think Ron is somewhat homophobic, but is somewhat neutral towards Gay Rights. He certainly isn't going to go to bat for Gays, but does not believe in creating Federal laws banning Gay Marriage or anything like that.

He gets major marks from me on his stance with Israel and Foreign Policy, however. That is probably what most appeals to me about Ron.

Also a old racist. He has publicly said he would not and still does not support the Civil Rights Act.

None of the other ass holes running for President will offer you anything better either. Well I can't say they won't "offer" it but I should say they probably won't deliver on what they offer.

Ron Paul is a joke.

Always has been.

Always will be.

He's a mean, bigoted, narrow minded and remarkably stupid person.

I would love for him to be the nominee.

When I lived in Houston I was in his district and didn't hear anything bad about him. But that was probably just me not paying attention.

You could not have expressed my feelings more accurately.

His age is telling on him. That's why I think there should be an age limit on running for office, Presidential or otherwise. There should be a cut off. Even though his is a "doctor" his mentality says otherwise. If he did say all this, he should fess up and say his mindset has changed with the times and he knows better BUT of course, he would lose all that rabid support he has from like minded individuals.

Unfortunately, Ron's supporters are too blind to admit any serious fault in their candidate. They will admit he is not the best speaker or best debater ... but they can not bring themselves to admit he would ever author those articles.

Even if he didn't write them, it still has his name on them ... which is a serious blunder on his part. How could he allow his name to be attached to something to be published ... without having any involvement in reviewing the material whatsoever?

They get too caught up in the message and the buzzwords:

Freedom
Constitution
Liberty
Limited Government

... and all that stuff.

It is ironic that his supporters chastise everyone else for not critically looking at their candidates ... yet if you get right down to it, all Ron says is the same buzz words, over and over and over and over in his speeches, while offering very few solutions.

If he wants to be President, to which he does not (and rest assured, he knows he can't win, but will play the game to get his ideas out in public), then he needs to start talking more specifics instead of just ...

"The Constitution .... Liberty ... the Constitution .... our Freedoms ... The Constitution ..." etc. etc. .

Another thing his supporters fail to recognize is that the President doesn't hold all the power in the Government. Even if they could somehow manage to get Ron elected ... then what? Congress wouldn't work with him, and all he would do is veto everything. Congress is likely to get so fed up with him that they would actually work together, Republicans and Democrats, in over-riding several of his vetoes to prove a point.

Ron would not be able to control Congress, which would essentially mean his Presidency would be a doomed one.

I don't recall Ron Paul having used the word faggot in the 2009 film Bruno. I recall him having brushed aside the Sacha Baron Coen's fashionista character, after his attempted "seduction," and Paul stating, while walking out, that Bruno had removed some of his clothing and made a pass at him. I recall Ron Paul having been outraged and angered over that.

Am I wrong?

called him "queer"

well even Barack obama does not support gay marriage, yet ron paul has the same position that i do on same sex marriage, that the government shouldn't be involved.

if a state wants to allow same sex or opposite sex marriage, the federal government shouldn't be forced to recognize it and there shouldn't be all these built in mechanisms to prop up heterosexual couples at the expense of everyone else.

what is ironic about the gay marriage debate is that straight people should be for it, since there will be more people married.

at least now when gays get marriage equality they may actually value the 'institution' as its called. i doubt we will see a divorce rate at 50% for same sex couples.

but i see a benefit for society overall if gays are allowed to marry, you will see more same sex relationships.

Marriage can be a states' right all day, but to keep everything uniform and easy for all people involved. There needs to be some type of federal law recognizing a marriage no matter what state. Like they do for straight married couples.

Alleviates a shit ton of red tape and migraines if a couple decides to go to a different state or what not.

wonder how he feels about the jews? ;)

oh yeah - doesn't care for them

it's a trifecta of sorts

Not that this excuses his behavior, but a lot of it has to do with the era in which he was born. (8/20/35)

This means his first impressions of the world were formed in the late 30's / early 40's, when times were MUCH different.

Homophobia, racism and xenophobia were running rampant in our country back then, and it's hard for that man, ( or anyone) to get over their first impressions of life.

Some are more successful at it than others, but refusing to use the restroom in the home of a same sex couple is clearly ridiculous, and certainly something for young people to think about when casting their vote for him.

He is, basically, a Libertarian at heart, and does have some good ideas...

I just wish he was 25 years younger.
