Roy Moore

^ I wonder how many of those marriages are 'arranged'?

"Current Alabama law requires permission from both parents, judicial approval, and does not allow a pregnancy exception, which is a law that means a girl younger than 16 years old can marry if she is pregnant."

Meaning that the marriages aren't pregnancy-based younger than 16. The reasonings left are suspiciously lacking in the 'my [STRIKE]grade-school [/STRIKE] middle school boyfriend and I love each other' category.

Scratch that, they're not pregnancy-based younger than 16 without parental approval of the marriage, which is already mandatory for all variations, looks like. That was really badly worded on my part. No getting pregnant by the boy next door and running away with him to get married in Alabama, is what I'm saying.

I was torn between the two threads.

My one gripe, a lesson the democratic party STILL hasn't learned, don't wait til the 11th hour to try to drum up the black vote. They should've BEEN campaigning, counteracting the voter suppression efforts and ensuring that the base had their Is dotted and Ts crossed years ago, instead they waited til just a few weeks before the election because they thought they could slip in due to a flawed opponent. And if/when they lose they're going to blame the black voters just like they did with Prop 8 and once again the liberal side of racism will rear its ugly head.

I didn't think it was going to happen.

:D

Maybe there's some small glimmer of hope for us after all...

I'm dumb-struck in the best possible way.

If, however, Moore had won, I would have been cheering for the complete destruction of the Republican Party. Having such a flawed candidate, they were screwed whether Moore won or lost.

We now have a definite achievement we can credit to Donald Trump, he put a Democrat in the Alabama Senate seat for the first time in 25 years.

I'm still laughing, Donald united Blacks and White Republican Southerners!

The good news is Doug Jones won... the bad news is that it still was as close as it was, 1-1.5% points or so. The rabid conservative virus still exists in Alabama, hasn't been eradicated, just dulled some. 2018 is essential for a flip on the Supreme Court as the potential for three or more seats being vacated is likely...the Dems must back good candidates and wholeheartedly, unlike what they did until the last few weeks of this one...we lucked into this one, because a moderate liberal winning in Alabama could easily be reversed in 2020...Strange or some other conservative establishment Republican could still win. Sessions probably won't be AG too much longer, maybe he gets a jones to take his seat back from Jones. Even Moore could make a comeback...this wasn't as much a repudiation as much as a sigh of relief.

(,,,emphasis mine)

You have no idea how huge it would have been if Jones came within 10 points and lost, the talking heads would be marveling at how close he came.

The fact that he won is nothing less than seismic.

It's like Hillary winning Texas kind of seismic.

somebody should wake Ben and tell him the good news

He's going to be so happy...

Speaking of Ben, any bets as to whether Bannon is still in Alabama?

I bet he done skee-daddled...

What a fantastic piece of news to awaken to. The news over here is going bat-shit crazy, although it seems that Moore at the time of typing is refusing to admit defeat.

This has made my day. Well done............:=D:

The poor dear would have been less shocked if he'd been shanked by a little girl he was currently fondlin.. er, counseling.

But I jest, the really funny thing is that the Molester thinks the Groper is going to send in the cavalry, completely oblivious to the smack down handed to him by REPUBLICANS in Alabama. If he thinks the State Party apparatus is going to come to the rescue he's going to be sorely disappointed.

Yes Roy, 14 means pedophile.

:rotflmao:

The news just showed Bannon jumping into an SUV and running like the little bitch we all know he is...

Silly Steve, thought he was the kingmaker, turns out he's just the Jester with delusions.

Before I go, just let me raise a glass to Steve, and that Huckabee person, and the Groper, the Molester, and hell everyone in here (you know who you are) for putting a Democrat in Sessions' Senate seat.

BIG KISSES! Let's see what you can do with Arizona and Nevada, and dare one hope, GO campaign for Teddy our Lord and Savior an put a DEM in a Texas Senate Seat!

DEAR SWEET JESUS, Bannon's flunky has just called for war on McConnel!
