Is anyone else getting sick of hearing these ads? I sure as hell am. When was the last time anyone found a cure for anything? I'm not talking of a better treatment or nicer facilities, but an actual cure. With all the billions of $$ raised for cures, why hasn't anyone found one yet? Sheesh, even the common cold is still around.

The common cold is causes by hundreds of seperate viruses with similar results. So no, no cure for that.

When you actually look how little of what's raised makes to the organisation, you'll be even more sick.

Dirty little secret: Not all the money raised from run/walk/ride/whatevers goes towards funding a cure.

Some of the money is spent to fund the event where it was raised, some (depending on the event) winds up in someone else's pocket, while a lot goes to awareness. All those tv commercials, internet ads, radio interruptions, etc. that you're sick of seeing cost money.

Maybe it's the nihilist in me speaking, but I don't bother with "[blank] to find a cure for [insert disease here]" events anymore.

…I asked one of the callers one time how much of my donation went to the actual charity

..." a bare minimum of 20%" …

My country's leader is negotiating a national disability insurance scheme to cost $13.5 billion a year. But 66% will be spent on the bureaucrats and only 33% on the disabled.

Don't get me wrong, there are some charities that do very good work, but they are few and far between. I no longer support those scams who have a whole mechanism running behind them, mainly those claiming to find a cure for something, i just see no results except great palaces in the sky. I'll give to something that does good on a much more local level.

do ya own charity then

10000 million humans coor just think

anyway

dinos got pack fa trip

nice day to day

thankyou

naw, what i'm tired of are those annoying "sponsor a child in west alamos" with that old ass guy with the same rugged beard he had in jurassic park when he got ate by the dinosaur. i'm supposed to care about a child across the world when there's kids in america that are third world poor with nobody giving a fuck about them.

i also hate those annoying animal humane society commercials too with that sarah mcfaddin or whatever her name is singing in the background.

I haven't seen those commercials in a long while, it's been taken up political by attack ads, some basically the same as the "older" version with same lines but different graphics and tone of voice.
