Runescape by Jagex is an online, multi-player adventure game, where hard work, strategy, and a little random luck build virtual wealth and power.

It's a world of tidy cause/effect relationships, capitalist opportunities, and messy battles

For me it's a good mental exercise of organizing tasks in order to accomplish short-term goals, which in turn lay the foundation for longer-term goals.

Case in point --- in order to raise my farming skill level, and complete Part II of the Fairy Tale Quest, I need to get seeds, preferably by killing Moss Giants. I'm more prepared to fight them with enchanted-emerald crossbow bolts, plus a super strength potion. So, that means I need to mine gem rocks when there's no competition from other players, and fight Chaos Druids to get the potion's main herb, without getting killed by other players who can attack me in that zone.

Or else there's cooking a pineapple pizza, which requires picking wheat, grinding it at the windmill, collecting the flour in a pot, mixing the flour with a jug of water to make pizza dough. Then a tomato and cheese are used on the dough before cooking. If the pizza comes out cooked perfectly, a pineapple can be picked by going on a ship to the jungle island, and with a knife cutting it into chunks to add on the pizza

Organization.

I'm not as addicted to Runescape as I am to porn or the JUB forums or "Nip/Tuck," but gameplay is still a nice retreat.

Sometimes in a monster area, when my character's not fully equiped with heavy armor and the latest weapons, another player might deride me on chat as having "newb gear."

That's when I chat back, "Maybe, but at least I GOT LAID last nite."

OMG I jus started to play that also, yeah I'm not as hooked on it as some other folks I know, the game is interesting though but gets boring quick.

i've just cancelled my membership after 3 and a half years of playing because of the crappy updates they've just done that make things harder to see, and items harder to use effectively

you should take a look at their 'rants' forum- over 150 pages ranting about the updates that were just released today

They had updates today?!?! Do you know on what?? I mean cuz I have a free account and I notice that theres a lot of things that "non-members" are not allowed to do.

they changed the interface of the game. some of the stuff is the same (thank god) but they added some pictures instead of words (what was the point?) to some buttons, moved other buttons to various different areas within the interface, and generally screwed things up

i, along with about 5 of my friends, have decided that until their customer service improves (ie: actually listening and responding to complaints, instead of just saying 'try it for a few days'), we're not giving them another cent

if i can get my computer to run it i'm switching to WoW

Besides the senseless updates that strain my RAM to load, another beef of mine is having to find partners for quests. I created a bogus character to help me get through Shield of Arrav, and worked on 2 computers side-by-side to do the trading.

(Meanwhile, RS auction forums are loaded with requests for quest partners, but all for the wrong gang)

I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for that bogus character's membership just so I can go shopping at the Heroes Guild.

Have you gone to any of the help websites ( http://runehq.com/ , http://www.tip.it/runescape/ , http://www.runescaperealm.com/ , etc.)?
They have databases of skill levels, items, monsters, maps, as well as quest tips.

When it gets a little boring for me (and I've got a buzz), I like to go mining just to stockpile coal. Often I get that coal from wilderness skeleton mine, having switched to a free-world server to avoid being hit by a members-only attack spell. Meanwhile, I can also train magic against skeletons, and bury their bones for more prayer exp.

don't let them catch you saying that, or you'll be banned. and remember not to even MENTION another website (like runehq) while playing, or you can be muted/banned.

and yeah its stupid to have to partner up with someone for some quests like heroes, but the rewards are worth it (did every quest there is, currently). even though my total level isn't anywhere near some of my friends (only have 1713 as of last night) i beat them all in quest points and access to certain rewards- like the kingdom on miscellania


(PS: don't talk to me about stockpiling coal- i have over 8k of that just from my kingdom alone, and no other ore to use it with)

Omg are u serious i've been playinh this game for like 2 yrs and few month nows after i go to work im on the game playing and when im resting i squeeze on this site!!


p,s im lvl 120 without a 99 skill

I dont like it i want nice stats first before i go 99

I used to play on this a few years ago but I got bored of it pretty quickly. After reading this post, I'm considering playing it again.

I've been playing it for a while. I'm not that high of a level. Sadly it takes a lot of work to get to a high level if you are a non member.

I used to play Runescape but it got really boring because of the excessive grind (doing things over and over to progress) involved.

If I EVER start get hooked on Runescape, either kill me or put me in rehab, whichever is faster.

I despise this game to it's core, but when you start playing it, you can't stop because you NEED to finish the quests, you NEED to gather the best equipment you can, you NEED to spend hours on end leveling up your fishing skills. It's basically a lesser form of Evercrack.

I WASNT a member, it's just with the quests, it takes so long to beat some of them, and it takes so long to get the right equipment and level up so you survive, that you get slowly addicted to it.

i got mu first 99 its dum hp cape rofl but i likey it now im doing stuff to get my 5 stats under to 70 63 is my lowest dum its hard to lvl few skill when ur more broke than broke back mountain

ive played rs on and off for like 3 years now i got to admit it does get boring but mainly chatting 2 friends is prob the reason i still play lol that and cw and aww they ruin duel arena
