This review is based SOLELY on what I saw in the "Meet the Queens" section of the RuPaul's Drag Race Season 4 website. You can watch them here:
. Also, I know this is too early to make any real judgement calls, but these are my opinions based on what I see as to whether I think they are contenders or not.
The Princess: I like her a lot, but she reminds me a bit of Morgan McMichaels from season 2 in her make-up. She's got a unique enough look, but I hope she doesn't think that will be enough. Being bald won't win her this thing. Having said that, she was one of the best looks of the girls.
Jiggly Caliente: A bit too low key for my tastes. Her video was really focused on how she thinks she's cute and I'm just not convinced she's got enough fire in her to go up against other fierce queens.
Willam: I kind of love her. Her confidence ("My first time auditioning, but I always get what I want") may turn to cockiness, and again I couldn't help getting a Morgan McMichaels vibe from her, but as of now I liking what I see. Could have hidden her 5 o'clock shadow better though!
Phi Phi O'Hara:...Eh. She's got a good enough look, but otherwise she she was just OK. In this competition, that's not good, who want's to be the queen everyone forgets was even on? My prognosis; she'll be the India Ferrah of the season.
Latrice Royale: Honestly I have a bad feeling about this one; A: She just reminds me of a black Victoria Pork-Chop Parker, and we know how well she did on the show. B: One of the first things she said was she wants to really represent the big girls! That translates to "I'll be the biggest emotional mess of the show". She seems sweet enough, but I wasn't loving her look. Not a contender in my book.
Dida Ritz: She sounds and acts like Mariah! She was working a fierce look, and made sure we knew her pride in her legs. My worry is like Mariah, will she let her looks do the work and fail to show any personality in the challenges?
Chad Michaels: She's been doing this for 19 years and it shows. I loved that she was confident but not cocky! She was willing to admit that the new girls can still beat her so she's not over-confident. her look and interview were pretty low-key, though. Still, as of now I'm rooting for her!!!
Kenya Michaels: The Puerto Rican Drag queens are famous for being the show's sweethearts, and Kenya seems like she'll continue that tradition. I loved her hair, but her outfit, while cute, was a little too standard for me. It looked like Dida and Milan's looks. Still loving her though!!!
Lashawn Beyond: She's pretty but frankly, I almost forgot to review her. I'm willing to give everyone on this show the benefit of the doubt, but Tyra Sanchez and Akashia were the first two queens to come to mind, and that's hardly a compliment!
Madame LaQueer: My first thought was "Delta Work with a better attitude!" LOVE HER!!!! Another Latin sweetheart!
Milan: I'm loving me some Milan!!! She has a realness to her, and I mean in that she seems like someone humble enough to talk to after the show's over. She's approachable. Her outfit was simple, but it worked for me.
Sharon Needles: I love the dark edginess to her; Yara Sophia Americanized! My favorite look of the girls in the promos/trailer. She had a 'Vida Boheme' to her voice, and I loved that she was in character the entire video. I just hope she's versatile enough to do more than dark and eerie, shticks like that will only take you so far. Otherwise perfection.
Alisa Summers: Carmen and Alexis had a baby apparently! Sounds like Rebecca Glasscock. Like Carmen, she seems obsessed with being pretty, which means like Carmen she'll be irritatingly boring. Hopefully I'm wrong.
