Yeah thank goodness the Democratic Party isn't like that.![]()
I'm not saying they aren't.
For those Republicans who thought Jindal was absolutely terrible, Limbaugh is basically telling them to shut up and accept it.
Good, because in the recent election Democrats used that "D" versus "R" crap a lot more than Republicans did.
Actually what he said is don't be fooled into valuing style over substance.
Can't agree with your interpretation, Nick. Sounded more to me like Rush was saying,
Back Bobby Jindal like I do, or I don't want to hear from you.
Oh he said that as well.
But he didn't tell Republicans to shut up and accept Jindal despite their belief that he was absolutely terrible as this says: "For those Republicans who thought Jindal was absolutely terrible, Limbaugh is basically telling them to shut up and accept it."
Limbaugh was instructing them to see past style and recognize the value of substance, and then if you can't do that then he doesn't want to hear from you.
I'm not a fan of Limbaugh's and I almost never agree with him, but IMO he is right in this instance (though I'm not defending his motive for saying it, which I think is ultimately to merely support the GOP and run down anyone Democrats vote in). Both parties (with Bush and then with Obama) have chosen style over substance recently, which is what American culture is about today, and it's not working out well for us. We need to stop being dazzled by pretty faces and pretty words and pretty seductions, and learn how to value substance again.
F.Y.I. Between you and me: You are the one who has given more thought to Rush Limbaugh.
I'm generally the one who's given more thought to most subjects I engage in. That's the reason my insight is usually deeper and more detailed.
For example I saw the economic crisis coming on years before most others did, and I see that it's going to last longer and be more difficult to get out of than most people believe today, not because I have a crystal ball but because I give more original thought than most people do to issues that interest me. I love to think, I love to challenge authority and conventional wisdom and common agreement, I love to figure out what's wrong and possible solutions. Most people are more interested in belonging to the group, being accepted, being liked, being distracted from unpleasant truth and difficult choices.
While others mindlessly surf the Internet or watch TV or pop iPod earphones in their ears or text or chat endlessly on their cells, I'm thinking. And while others hop on the caravan mimicking what everybody else says about people like Limbaugh, I'm looking beneath the surface to see what's there. I've given more thought to who Rush Limbaugh is, his motive, his impact, not because I like him or agree with him, but because human nature fascinates me and he's a worthy study.
Man this is a lot of ego masturbation.
Remember what I said Nick about self congratulatory pronouncements from mount pompous?
Or I could comment on your massive ego masturbation.
Two posts in this thread and in both the criticism of Rush Limbaugh is that he's fat.
Personal ridicule, that's what Obama Democrats know and use.
Shallow style over substance.
Drug Limbaugh is leading his faction of uneducated, bigoted, white trash over the cliff. He just spews invective and negativity. The Republican party I predict is going to either split into two camps, or splinter. A best case scenario is if the Goldwater fiscal conservatives (which are the money of the party) split all the religious whack jobs and trailer trash off and rebuild the party, and let the whack jobs run a "God Is White" type party which will be as relevant as the Libertarian Party, Independence Party, Green Party, Socialist Party, like groups here in America.
