Seems like all the petitions I've signed this past week has helped all the others in signing them too. I believe there were 6 or 7 that I've signed. It's good to see this, maybe the advertisers will break the Faux news.

Premiere Networks, which distributes Limbaugh as well as a host of other right-wing talkers, sent an email out to its affiliates early Friday listing 98 large corporations that have requested their ads appear only on “programs free of content that you know are deemed to be offensive or controversial (for example, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Tom Leykis, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity).”

It is laughable that all these advertisers pretend they had no idea Rush has for decades made a living from purposely offending anyone that was not a white extreme conservative male. Did they actually think he was "family programming" material when they first signed up to sponsor him?

Talk radio advertising - content sensitive - is by definition very cheap relative to other mediums and programs

It is an extremely cost effective way to reach millions

So this will actually hurt these companies as they will either not reach these listeners who (as heinous as they are) . Buy products

Or they will have to replace this Advertsing with more expensive lower reach vehicles

It is about time that the right wing shock jocks and the sponsors who support them get the message that their demographic of angry old white males is increasingly now sitting in wheelchairs in the lounge of the nursing home, paralyzed from their last stroke and able to only drool and grunt while they wait for God and that a better educated, more ethnically diverse and culturally diverse population under the age of 60 won't support sponsors who fund hate.

Eventually, just like in the case of Glenn Beck, it is only the lowliest of bottom feeder scam companies whose sole aim is to cheat the angry and old from their money.

Good for the top tier companies.

And given that AFA and the talibangelicals use the same tactic against all the companies that a homo positive... it looks good on these asshats. Let them keep spewing their drivel and hate as much as they want. Just don't make them rich doing it.

I signed several petitions and e-mailed advertisers. It's working. As rareboy said, this worked for Glen Beck to stop his insane hate speech and it will worked for Lush Windbag too. He'll be harder to take down ad he has many dittohead zombies hanging on his every word, but it will too will happen.

Now instead of having paying sponsors, there's dead silence. Fits in nicely with with his deadhead talking.

I am no fan of Rush, but again you see agendas at work when we refer to things like name-calling as a "scandal".

There is no scandal. He simply compared the woman to being a slut on the air for seeking tax payers to essentially cover her expenses for having sex.

Sleep Train mattress company apparently realized they were cutting their noses off to spite their face and wanted back on Limbaugh. They were turned away.

The listeners are apparently canceling their subscriptions to Carbonite affecting the company's value significantly. That's a new twist on this whole boycott business.

It is funny to see that people don't understand life cycle costs or the science of LED bulbs that can be used in incandescent fixtures.

That's not all there was too it. He also demanded that she put up a video on the internet of her sexual promiscuity...which was a personal, baseless attack. A lawsuit is now pending in the Florida State Attorney General's office against Limbaugh on the legal grounds of "defamation of character".

Efforts to punish controversial speech comes from the right and the left. It’s true that liberal organizations, for example, attacked Dr. Laura for use of the racial epithet or when Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a "slut", just as conservative organizations burned Dixie Chicks CDs when Natalie Maines told a London audience that she was embarrassed that President Bush came from Texas. OR when Hannity sits in front of a TV camera every night and demonizes the President of the United States with hateful vitriol. Politicians and interest groups of all stripes consistently seek to limit the other side’s free speech.

This goes beyond that. This is tantamount to defamation of character. No liberal ever told a conservative to post their alleged sexual promiscuity as a video on the internet.

the rush thing - slut + video reference was brutal - he bit hard and kept it going too long - you're right

hannity is a douche - but he NEVER suggests censorship for the other side and frankly his commentary pales in comparison to his liberal counterparts - keith o, ed s and even chris m are much more PERSONAL in nature

i'm not defending hannity as i think his show is worthless

but the level of "you suck" is titled in cable news - and the personalization is much more extreme from the left
