Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Certainly, Venezuela still seems to keep limping along.

So, Venezuela was getting the vast majority of its backing from Putin. But that well seems to have run dry.

Regard:

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela’s government plans to resume negotiations with the U.S. government this week, President Nicolás Maduro announced Monday, less than a month before a highly anticipated election in which he and his party are facing their toughest challenge in decades...

I seem to recall Maduro and all his invective against the US - the greatest evil of all when his hand was in Putin's pocket.

My how times have changed.

At 1000 to 1300 troop losses each day, the Kremlin seems to be losing the chance for a real intiative in their summer offensive. The Kherson front push is not working out very well, with Ukraine retaking area lost to rrrzzznz last month. Now in the countdown to 600K vatniks either dead or injured for the oligarchs.

We now have Bulgaria offering to step in and try to broker peace for Putin; he lacks any other country with legitimacy or standing to make overtures for him now.

I think it's safe to say at this point that we have a frozen conflict. Putin is not going to get more than he already occupies, and without much more significant help, Ukraine won't push him back out.

Totally frozen and the Kremlin saying they are open to negotiations.

And the west still won't step in to make sure that Rzzzia loses.

The best bet for Putin is to once again freeze the lines and then attack from within by destroying Ukrainian soveriegnty through corruption and graft.

And to carve out some kind of deal that still keeps Ukraine out of NATO so that he can continue to attack. As always the Kremin is in it for the long game. This is all just a blip and they actually now have the territories they really need for the minerals and control of the Azov.

They won't give up though until they make Ukraine a land-locked country.

Germany has announced that it is cutting its military aid to Ukraine next year by 50%. Again, a sign of a frozen conflict that the western democracies apparently have no desire to win.

Hard to believe people and countries have forgotten or are ignoring history.
They should refresh their knowledge of Neville Chamberlain and how well appeasing and enabling dictators who invade sovereign countries works out for the world.
This includes almost all of the republican party. Helping Ukraine to our fullest extent is in our own national interest and safety.

If people do the same thing, the same thing is going to happen, only this time nuclear weapons won't end it. There will be far worse consequences.

Germany's support was forced from the start. All they intended to give was some helmets and a few outdated tanks.

But Ukraine's president's courage shamed them into not writing Ukraine off.

If Germany recedes, then the US and Macron and Poland must go to Finland and Sweden and the north and get more money where it is to be found. There must be some will in the wealthier countries to not let Germany be the leader across the board. Surely we have some strings to pull with our allies.

Blinken can get back on the plane and start talking.

Every day that rrrZZZia loses another plane is a good day.

Russia is offering Moscow residents a record $22,000 to fight in Ukraine

Authorities in the city of Moscow are offering a record signing-on bonus for new recruits to fight in Ukraine, in the latest sign of a scramble to boost Russian troop numbers.

The financial sweetener comes as President Vladimir Putin struggles to recruit soldiers for his army as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine grinds on in its third year.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin introduced the one-time signing bonus of 1.9 million rubles (about $22,000) for city residents who join the military, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The Russian army currently has 1.32 million soldiers in it so why oh why has Putin deemed it necessary to bribe new conscripts to join the cause? His reticence to use the army he has is indicative of a larger issue, one that somehow relates to the Ukraine’s refusal to draft men under the age of 26. This ‘issue’ may also have the same effect on the Chinese army should they move on Taiwan but it has had no effect on the Israeli war in Gaza.

Hard to say what it is but expanding populations mean one thing and shrinking ones mean another.

Bad sign if they are now having to recruit in Mockba.

Their attempts to hire cannon fodder soldiers from abroad hasn't been going so well.

That is good news that the pro-rrrZZZn moldovans are going to fight in Ukraine.

It might mean that Moldava becomes more stable and that the ridiculous Kremlin attempt to seize that country again will fail.

As their losses continue to mount, RRzzzZia is apparently moving large amounts of equipment near the vicinity of the Kerch Bridge in response to heightened concerns that its destruction remains a high priority for the Ukrainian government.

And it grinds on...I wonder if the shifting calculus in the US election landscape will result in any impact on the summer campaign.

rrrZZZia may need to push even harder to freeze the lines if Trump and their agents lose in November. The best they can hope for if the Dems take the White House is to hang onto some of wjhat they've stolen.

I must have been prescient....for the last 24 hours I have been checking to see if Ukraine had taken out any more of the RRRzzzian navy.

Apparently they have...a submarine. The Rostov on Don...in the port of Sevastopol.
