Russian Invasion of Ukraine

It is pretty interesting to see territory they have captured showing up on the maps.

The question is: how will this change the dynamic for RZZia in the east and south? I almost think that Kursk was pre-emptive, to stop rrrZZia from opening up another front for invasion...and to wipe out the threat in this direction so that they can focus on Adviivka front.

I am assuming that the key targets are military encampments and ammo/equipment centres in Kursk, but slicing through key supply lines may also be worth the effort to invade. The ease with which the defense trenches and embankments have been over-run is probably indicative of how soft most of the defenses in Rzzzia border lands are in the northeast.

Some guy on YouTube pointed out that the Russian air force is MIA and the Chechen(?) commandos in the area abandoned their posts. I wonder what's left to stop Ukraine from pulling a Prigozen and keeping on going.

It's kind of shocking that they got that far that quickly. Makes you wonder if anything at all is protecting Kursk.

Arthur said they were what, 50 miles from Kursk? Well within the range of the medium range missiles they have. Time to let them use whatever they think is necessary to hit whatever military targets and infrastructure they can.

There are reports of Ukraine military presence in a fairly large swath of Kursk now...76,000 rrrzzkies have been evacuated in the last 10 days...the psychological impact of this must be interesting in Mockba.

I suspect they thought that this was inconceivable and now the civilian population in Kursk is experiencing what Ukrainians having been living with for the last 2 years.

I doubt if Ukraine will use the scorched earth approach that rrrxxxnz favour and reduce the towns to rubble, but honestly, I wouldn't blame them at this point.

Meanwhile, rzjian casualty numbers contune galloping toward the 600K mark. Remarkably few tanksand APV's given that Ukraine is on the march into rrzzia and I would expect, over-running the equipment and vehicle depots...

Ukraine continues to make incursions into Kursk in rrrxxxzzzja...and have hoisted a flag at Kinburn spit.

The re-taking of Kinburn is critical to the safety of shipping out of Ukraine. and meanwhile....

Ukraine has added a big chunk of territory today.

They are poised to take Koronevo in Kursk region which will give them control over the rail connections and shut down transport to the border front by rrZZZia of equipment and armaments.

The worst peron in me would like to see tham raze the town to the ground (which they won't). In fact, unsurprisingly, it is the rrrZZians who are shelling the occupied settlements to ruins.

Because that is what rrrXXXZjianz do.

Ukraine has added a big chunk of territory today.

Ukraine should hold stage-managed referendums in the occupied areas of Russia and then announce that the citizens have opted to join Ukraine, like Russia did in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Luhansk, and Donetsk in 2022.

While Ukraine has taken more territory in one week than rrrzzzia has in the last 7 months (at a staggering cost), I do have some concerns that without the support of the citizens of Kursk region, it is going to be a huge challenge to hold the areas seized as the front increases.

Apparently, there is upset in RRooosha over the incursion. It is being regarded as a security failure and has made Putin look weak.

Yoou can tell that they are overstretched at this point. The Kremlin is scrambling to get people to enlist without a large scale conscription and they are talking about sending fresh recruits directly to the frontline...a disastrous strategy of simply using their people as meatbags.

Over 200,000 people have been moved out of the region abutting Ukraine now and Ukraine has set up help lines to assist residents to evacuate safely.

The entire region of Glushkovo is now being evacuated because after Koronevo is occupied, forces will certainly move westward to take it as well and cut off another route into Ukraine. It is not densely populated and could likely fall quickly with main supply lines to rrrzzzn defensive positions now cut off through Koronevo from the east. Time is running out for people to move north easily because the only useful bridge over the river leading north has already been damaged by missiles.

Ukraine indicates it has no intention of permanent occupation, the main intent is to degrade rrrxxzhia's capability to attack Ukraine with missiles and air bombing.

the rrrzian Defense Minister Belousov demanded that he should be provided with "truthful" and "up-to-date" information from the Kursk region, where Ukrainian Armed Forces units have entered, as well as from other Russian border regions :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

If I were him, I would avoid windows and not drink the tea.

So...let's check in on 'how many dead and damaged rrrzzzn soldiers today'.....2 more days to the magic 600K.

What's new in the war today?

Russian propagandist Alexei Zhivov is threatening to kill CNN journalists and other foreign journalists who come to film reports in the Kursk region of Russia. "We inform Western journalists who crossed the border of Russia. We will kill you all"

So there's that.

On the other hand, Ukraine destroyed the bridge finally on the third try at Glushkovo, effectively wiping out any link and direct escape route out of town now.

Meanwhile, the rrrZZxnz are withdrawing from the west bank of the Sejm River at Tyotkino and have blown all three bridges, so it seems clear they are not looking to hold this area along the Ukraine border as a frontline.

The frontline trench defenses seem to be failing at a rapid rate easterly and westerly as Ukraine gains control of supply lines and settlements. Today again reports of soldiers captured or who have just surrendered in this area.

I think that Ukraine is going to try to push rrrzzia back to the river in this region in order to establish a more secure zone between Kursk and Ukraine.

And now today, Ukraine has destroyed the next bridge over the river at Zvannoye village, per the above conjecture that they are creating a divinding line at the river and making the rrrzzznz move further and further to the west to escape before taking the whole region south of the river. There is one last minor bridge to the west, 38H-123 west of Zvannoye and I expect we'll see it destroyed tomorrow to give civilians one last chance to retreat into rrrXXZZZZja land. After that, they will all be occupied by Ukraine.

Mercifully, I hope. Even though Ukraine says they don't want to keep the area they are occupying....it could be a long, long time before it gets returned to Kremlin control.

The destroyed bridge at Glushkovo...forcing any vehicle traffic westward to get back into RRzzzia or requiring barges.

GVHXrepWAAElOW5

And the next bridge westward at Svannoe. Unusable for feavy traffic,

GVNjJX-XUAAF09I

Only one bridge still remains across the river now until the whole southern district is cut off.

Today, Ukraine has again extended the territory under their control as they move westward to Glushkovo. Once that town falls, I expect a broad sweep through the southern district of Kursk.

rzzzja is constructing more barricades to protect the Kerch Bridge. Tension is running high in rrrxxxcia because they beleive that Ukraine is planning an attack on the bridge in September.

As well, A rrxzian blogger reports that the last bridge over the Sejm River has been destroyed, effectively now isolating the southern district from vehicular access.

The rrrxxnz hve apparently created a pontoon bridge across the river east of Glushkovo to give them an exit.

UKraine knows just what to do with pontoon bridges.
