Every once in a while, I come across a song that blows me away. I had not heard this song until about a month ago, when someone posted it in the earworms thread. I wanted to sit with it, to find out all I could about the song.

No human being was meant to have the vocal range Piet Arion demonstrates here, and he tops it off by even singing in the whistle range.

Here is the Dimash Qudabergon version with subtitles, so that English speakers, at least, can get a sense of what the song is about. Dimash pours an intensity into the song which reminds me of the passion of Christ in "Jesus Christ Superstar."

Here is the original by Daniel Balavoine. The composers of the song, Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger, wrote it specifically to utilize Daniel Balavoine's vocal range and capability. It came out in 1978, from Starmania.

And finally I found this video of Matthieu Blanchette, on a Switzerland version of an America's Got Talent-type show. He does an OK job with the song, but I can do without all the show crap. To be honest, I'm including it mainly because he's one hot studly boy.
