saddest song you ever heard?

turn down the lights
turn down the bed
turn down these voices
inside my head
lay down with me
tell me no lies
just hold me close
don't patronize
don't patronize me

i can't make you love me if you don't
you can't make your heart feel
somethin' it wont
here in the dark, in these final hours
i will lay down my heart
and I'll feel the power but you wont
no you wont
cuz i can't make you love me
if you don't

i'll close my eyes
then i wont see
the love you dont feel
when your holdin' me
morning will come
and i'll do whats right
just give me till then
to give up this fight
and i will give up this fight

i can't make you love me if you don't
you can't make your heart feel
somethin' it wont
here in the dark,in these final hours
i will lay down my heart
and I'll feel the power if you wont
no you wont
cuz i can't make you love me
if you don't

We have a JUBBER that works in a health care facility in a small town. He
is a nice...no..make that super nice guy. I won't name and embarrass him
but several years ago he made my first avatar when I knew even less about
the p/c (yes donnie, it is possible)

Anyway, current country singer Eldredge does a song called

She calls me Raymond...and damn, it makes my eyes water and in my mind,
I picture that song being about that excellent guy. This is a hug for him

(and I don't give a damn if you don't understand...he will)..|

Wow,

My last fucking post killed this thread...now that it is Memorial Day Weekend,

I might as well bury it for you Tzu Tzu.

The song has to be

(o)(o) When Angels Fly Away
(o)(o)

Maybe I shared this one before, but probably not. It's good enough to hear again. It was a country top 10 hit in 1990, but I think it's pretty much forgotten. And I LOVE Kathie Baillie's voice.

And while I'm at it: this song was really a #1 country hit in September, 1988. I NEVER hear it anymore. It's written by out lesbian Cheryl Wheeler, who got award nominations for it. And it was performed by the late Dan Seals, who died im March 2009. There is a YouTube video of Cheryl and Dan performing the song on the American Music Shop TV program, and here it is.

These two are oldies......but if you know the words...

you can be gay or straight or even ambivalent, Jones did 1

and Coulter the other......then they were copied lots of times

but the lyrics can cause pain.

Das Grab ist tief und stille
Und schauderhaft sein Rand
Es deckt mit schwarzer Hülle
ein unbekanntes Land

Das Lied der Nachtigallen
Tönt dicht in seinem Schoß
Der Freundschaft Rosen fallen
Nur auf des Hügels Moos

Verlassne Bräute ringen
Umsonst die Hände Wund
Der weise Klagen dringen
Nicht in der Tiefe Grund

Noch sonst an keinem Orte
Wohnt die ersehnte Ruh
Nur durch die dunkle Pforte
Geht man der Heimat zu

Das Arme Herz hiernieden
Von manchem Sturm bewegt
Erlangt den wahren Frieden
Nur wenn es nicht mehr schlägt

Donnernd braust die Brandung drunten
Wild ertönt der Wogen Schwall
Auf und nieder, hin und wieder
Bäumt und schäumt der Wellen Wall
Auf und nieder, hin und wieder
Bäumt und schäumt der Wellen Wall

Hinter Dünen auf der Heide
Einsam, eingefriedet, schlicht
Eine kleine Friedhofsstätte
Und die dort ruhen kennt man nicht
Eine kleine Friedhofsstätte
die da ruhen kennt man nicht

Namenlose heimatlos
Niemand weiß aus welchem Land
Von der Flut zurückgegeben
Fanden Heimat hier im Sand
Von der Flut zurückgegeben
Fanden Heimat hier im Sand

Nur ein Kreuz und drauf die Nummer
Jahreszahl und Bergungstag
Schmückt das Grab um das die Ferne
Bange Liebe weinen mag
Schmückt das Grab um das die Ferne
Bange Liebe weinen mag

Hier und dort zum Kranz gewunden
Heidekraut und Enzian
Leicht umschwebt von Schmetterlingen
Hängt als loser Schmuck daran
Leicht umschwebt von Schmetterlingen
Hängt als loser Schmuck daran

Eine Möwe sah ich ziehen
Weit hin über dunkles Meer
Und ihr Ruf ein leises Jammern
Kann die Klage deuten wer?
Und ihr Ruf ein leises Jammern
Kann die Klage deuten wer?
