Safety of petroleum based lubes without condom?

Hi All,

My partner and I are monogamous for 10 years and we have anal sex without condoms. I have been wanting to try "Men's Cream" as an anal lube. It is petroleum based I believe. I am concerned about the safety of using petroleum and/or mineral based lube inside the anus. Does anyone have info about this?

(Please do not reply regarding condom safety or STD safety in this thread. I am very aware of the safety/risks and for others who aren't there are 1000s of other threads about it here. To get it out of the way, oil and mineral based lubes are not safe for condoms.)

Ok, thanks for the advice/help.

I generally use Vaseline (the petroleum jelly, not the hand lotion) as lube and nothing has ever happened to me.

Thanks for the response. I was worried about infections, etc. from bacteria...

Have you tried other lubes? How does the vaseline compare for you as a bottom? How do your tops rate it? Thanks!

I've not used any other lubes, and only really use it with toys. I've never had sex.

Mineral oil and petroleum based products are safe for putting in your ass. They are inert and are not absorbed, are not irritating and they will not damage the colon.

Another alternative is vegetable oil or shortening. Generally any oily substance you can safely put in your mouth is safe to put in your ass.

Usually the challenge with these oils is getting them out of your sheets afterward. They will stain bed linens and will often take several washes to get out of the sheets.

On a related subject for those using silicone or oils on their toys: some plastics can be damaged by silcone or oils, so make sure that the dildo you are using is made of a substance that is not damaged by petroleum products.

Have tried twice this week using "Men's Cream" which is similar to Vaseline. I f-ing love it. Best lube I have ever used as a bottom. No ill effects as far as I know. Thanks for the advice.

Petroleum jelly is safe.;)
From what I have read the only thing that petroleum based lubes will inhibit is the absorption of semen.:(
If you use a lot of Vaseline (or equivalent) it may coat your lower bowel and when the guy cums in you it will be repelled (like oil and water).:(
Pure, raw sex with natural water based lubes (even cum) do not provide this barrier. A lot of the semen is absorbed even if you push it out immediately after sex.:-)
If you want the guy to cum in you and want to keep the load then don't use condoms or petroleum based lubes.:D

Semi-safe sex would be to use petroleum based lubes w/o condom:confused:

Safe would be using a condom with those glycerin/silicone lubes and cumming inside the condom.:=D:

There's nothing coating about oil-based lubes nor does it provide any sort of barrier to the lower bowel.

OP asked about the safety of oil-based lubes on the tissue in the intestine. It is safe for this purpose however it affords no protective properties for any type of STI.

I've not had personal experience with this but a very close friend has... he told me that the usual lube (without a comdom) often causes the runs. Could be due the the preteleoum base.
He found a new lube on line that doesn't have that effect. Sorry though, cannot remember the name of it.
I'd agree with the cute guy above ^.... just use Vaseline. I've never had a problem with that.

Re: Safety of petroleum based lubes without condom

I've used all three - water, oil (jack off creams), and silicone. I don't like water based - they seem to have a burning hot sensation in my ass and get sticky and dry way too fast externally even rewetting with water. I also have a silicone allergy sensitivity - my hands tingle and feel numb after a while.

Aside from the understanding of unprotected sex, since I am now monagamous with my partner I started using Elbow Grease Hot Formula (it feels warm but doesn't burn like the water based) to bottom, after having used it a long time for jacking off.

Petroleum jelly doesn't have any preservatives unlike the creams. With the creams, I have never had much of a messiness issue by keeping a cum rag handy, and they actually wash out very easily with liquid soap in the sink afterward, probably easier than petroleum jelly, oil, or shortening. Silicone is the one that stains sheets semi-permanently, and dissolves silicone toys. Just my experience here.
