Salvation Army and that dang bell

LOL, yes, we go through it every year....

The SA was basically kicked off Targets' lots under pressure from gay groups challenging their stands on homosexuality. I think the same was true of Minneapolis. Those interested in reading the history of the drama between gay groups and the Salvation Army can google "Salvation Army+homosexuality" and you'll have a day's reading worth. There's a long history, and it ain't pretty.

I never contribute to them. There are many charities that do better work, with less money, and who don't hate gays to boot.
 
I put on my kippot and wish them a happy Chanukah.
 
I drop some money in the Salvation Army bucket one in a while. If I don't have any money to give, I don't feel guilty. I already give to Feed The Children charities and an African orphanage with AIDS children.
