Sarah Palin screws up AGAIN

In the case of Lawrence v Texas, … an officer entered the apartment WITH A WEAPON DRAWN and arrested them for having sex.

And you know why the officer entered the apartment? Because neighbours heard them "moaning and groaning" and called the police.

In all fairness, the police entered the residence in response to a reported “weapons disturbance.” The conduct of the police in entering the residence was never challenged and was assumed to be reasonable and lawful. Generally, a presumption of emergency precludes the necessity for police to seek a warrant before entering a residence. The activity they discovered upon entering the residence (homosexual conduct) was unlawful according to Section 21.06 of the Texas Penal Code. The police were therefore justified in arresting the individuals for the crime they witnessed.

Doesn't have to be the Gestapo.

"Gestapo" here is a red herring, to distract from the facts.

The issue is that Republican platforms seek to make same sex relations illegal.

Ummmm -- I can't believe I'm even responding AGAIN to this thread...

I think it is UNIMPORTANT, IRRELEVANT and INANE to be concerned with someone stating the wrong town for a college of a long dead ex president...

Nor, by making that mistake, does it imply stupidity...

:confused::confused::confused:

So are you saying that you don't believe Sarah Palin is a moron?

It amazes me how those of the far right of the GOP/Tea Baggers worship Sister Sarah. She can't evenget her facts straight when she gives a speech. The audience should have stood up and told her she got facts wrong.

The thing that scares me the most is this is what they want in leader for 2012. Can one see her when she has to deal with real issues as leader of the free world or whats left of it!

Ah so that was the red herring.

The red herring I referred to was laika's change of topic, a frequent strategy to move away from an indefensible topic.

The fact is that Republican platforms include desire/intent to make same sex sexual relations illegal. So laika changes the topic by shifting it to people thinking the gestapo is listening to them.

But that was never part of the thread until laika introduced it, to distract from the fact of Republican platforms wanting to criminalize gay sex, which is an issue unto itself.

A pity people fall for it.

What I am trying to figure out is why is it considered a bad thing when the president uses a telopromter? Is he supposed to remember his whole speech? How is it better that a person reads from a paper than a telopromter? Is there some speech etiquette rule that I don’t know the reason why a telopromter is looked down upon?

Can someone provide a list of methods that past presidents have used to give speeches?

There are two things:

1. The anti gay laws in Texas that were rendered unconstitutional by the supreme court a few years ago;

2. The platform of the Texas Republican party that declares its position that gay sex be illegal. This of course is a platform, not a law, and the court decision makes it moot anyway.

Oh, ok, that.. I just read the GOP platform yesterday. Now I know where I am...|

Conservatards can't attack the president on policy because he's usually on the right side of it.

They instead have to whine about stupid shit that doesn't matter.

1) he's a secret Muslim

2) he was born in Kenya

3) his wife shows too much arm

4) he gave a silly gift to the Queen

5) He sucks at bowling

6) He wears ill-fitting jeans

7) he didn't get a shelter dog

8) he smokes

9) he uses his Blackberry too much

10) He can't memorize 90-minute speeches.

11) he's thin

Call me when they come up with something of substance.

Jasun, your hypocrisy is cracking me up. You're the biggest basher of Consevatives. And I don't mean policy basher, you insult and disparage them on a personal level. So don't preach about substance.

laika, I'm wondering what Republican policies you find so wonderful that you support them in spite of their overwhelming anti-gay bigotry

If the Republicans actually came clean and admitted picking Sarah Palin for VP running mate was a mistake I'd have a lot more respect for them. It's their fragile egos speaking here. Or is it arrogance. They simply can't admit they were wrong.

The more she speaks, the more they defend her, the stupider they become.

Now, they won't come out and say, "yes, we were wrong in choosing her and thinking she's smart, etc.". The replies will be..... "well, what about_________?".

C'mon Republicans.... admit you're wrong and you might actually earn a little respect. I see a few have squeaked out a little. You KNOW she's a fool.

Everything besides their gay marriage stance. But hey, Democrats don't support it either.

Palin would never quit if she became President.

You're basing this on what?

I would argue that she quit being governer so she could make more money and publicity for herself so she could have batter chance during the 2012 elections.

Because what we need is someone with good marketing, not good leadership?

On another note, Anne Curry made the same mistake a month ago, and everyone was aplogetic and willing to forgive her instantly. Double standard???

Anne Curry wasn't elected by the people to run a state.

Everything besides their gay marriage stance. But hey, Democrats don't support it either.

So, you support their opposition to repeal of DADT? You support their anti-abortion stance? You support their defense of torture? I guess you support their belief that corporations shouldn't be regulated so that they can once again destroy the economy, kill their employees and pollute the environment? Do you support the right of people to buy bullets that can pierce a bullet-proof vest?

Everything besides their gay marriage stance. But hey, Democrats don't support it either.

So their "throw gay people in jail" stance is Ok with you?

And their "take away all legal protections for gay couples, married or not" passes your sniff test?

And their "make it legal to fire people for being gay, take away their children, stop them from adopting, not allow them to associate in schools..."

Those are all AOK with you?

ok.

Because what we need is someone with good marketing, not good leadership?

Thats what we have now a great orator...how did the vice President put it "articulate"

We need a decent leader...and No it wont come from any pool of politicians we currently have to pick from...

Health care giving a pass to the pharmaceutical industry and the insurance industry and then the financial regulation that has no teeth is a pass for the banking institution......

SOmebody who knows he or she has power to cause things to happen in legislation to the leadership in the gulf..... we need someone.

Sadly I have no idea where someone who isnt bought and paid for would come from????

I was unaware that Ann Curry ran on a campaign to serve for a four year term.

For that matter, I was unaware that she quit, that anyone cared, that she was forgiven or needed to be forgiven.

What about the Employment non-discrimination act?

Uniting American Families Act?

What about housing discrimination?

What about Don't Ask Don't Tell?

You side with Republicans on all those issues?!?! How repugnant!

Roundly false.

Liberal Democrats do support same-sex marriage, and everywhere it has passed or brought up for a vote, most Democrats have voted in favor.

Liberal Democrats support it, I'm glad you pointed that out because if the Democratic party as a whole wanted to make it legal they could. But alas, only a small minority do.
