Homosexuality is widely seen as immoral acts, an abomination, and it's totally unacceptable in Saudi Arabia, as a 20 years old closed gay male I'm terrified by the capital punishment if somebody knew I am gay, my family have doubts that i'm non-heterosexual, i always get bullied by my elder sister and some of my family member ,i haven't and will never come out to anyone here in Saudi Arabia due to the fear of being deported and thrown away and/or even worse get killed by them, I'm attending college to take my degree in radiology, I'm planing to immigrate to The United States of America, The United kingdom or Canada, does the LGBTQ community offer help to gay people with the immigration ? are there any advices for an individual in my position ? note there's no LGBT community here or any other movement of this sort, I feel so alone to fighting against an endless battle every moment, I know there are so many gay people in the same position, I still have hope things will get better, I'm totally clueless and i don't know what to do other than finishing my degree leave my family behind and keep on the battle to get my freedom .

Gaykitten, welcome to JUB. I'm sorry to hear that you are in such a bad spot in your homeland. It's a shame that they treat human beings as they do in your country.

Leaving is probably a good idea, given your circumstances. I'm not aware of any gay groups doing immigration work in the US. I can't really say for sure about any of the other countries you've mentioned. Perhaps some of the regulars here, can shed some more light on that issue.

In any event, you've made some good choices in terms of the places you'd like to go to. They are all pretty tolerant of gay people. I wish you well, whatever you choose to do in life. JUB is an excellent place to make contact with other similarly situated people. So, I would encourage you to continue to post, if for nothing else, moral support.

I wish you well in your efforts to emigrate to a place where you are no longer in danger. However, I would NOT suggest the United States (and I live in the central U.S. and I'll still say that). At this point, Canadian gays have far more rights than we do in the U. S., and I fully expect that Republicans will rule the U. S. for many years to come. During that time there will be no advancement of any kind, unless the Courts rule in favor.

The U. S. is degenerating into factions who hate each other, and during the campaign leading to the recent elections there were candidates suggesting terrorism and civil war if the wrong candidates won. If the U. S. falls into a Civil War, gay people AND Muslims will almost surely be in the crosshairs, as there is currently a lot of hatred being directed at those two groups.

I think that Canada will outlive the U. S. by decades, if not centuries. I don't know enough about UK to comment, but I believe there are far more rights there as well.

Dear friend Gaykitten..
Despite what frankfrank said to you..

Well you try to emigrate wherever you can as soon as you can.

The USA is a fine place for gay folk to be in despite what he says.

Main thing is that you get out of where you are now..
There are many good universities here or in Canada that most likely would love to have you.
And you need not worry about being gay either in the USA, Canada, or the UK.

Just leave as your country as soon as you can.
There are many support groups for gay folk in each of the countries you mentioned.
But being gay is only a small part of you my friend. it cannot be your entire being.

There are many support groups in the US to help you out.. Same thing in the UK or Canada.
It's not a free ride though my friend... It's not like you will get free money to attend school.
But there are many groups that may help you out..
I'm going to pm you.

Coming to America would be great. We gays can't marry but I don't see why everyone gets their panties in a wad over it. There are plenty of places to live with a large gay populations where will be accepted and not have to worry. And if you're in medicine, you shouldn't have any trouble immigrating and becoming a citizen.

I would definitely bale on Saudi Arabia as quickly as you can.

Frank, I don't know why you painted such an unnecessarily negative picture of gay life in the US for the OP. Obviously your life experience has not been the same as mine. I could live anywhere I want to live and I choose the US.

a 'Saudi Arabian' who writes in perfect english and wants to emigrate to the United States. Yeah, right.

Why would you say this?? What proof do you have to show otherwise??

It's his first post, talk about labeling a person you don't even know, your the type of gay person (if you are ) that gives us the bad view in our Forum here on JUB....You must not of heard educated people

He is here asking for advise, help, suggestions. He did not post here to be riddiculed...

The same could be said in return to you... think about it..

KITTEN:

Never mind this guy how posted this unwarrented statement. You just to get you things in order and move to where you feel it would be best for you to live w/o fear, and live your life safe and happy.

The US is a fine place, although there are area were it is not as friendly toward gay life style, but you'll have this in many countries. But fo rthe most part the US is a great great place to live. And Canada, Uk are not bad choices either.

Wish you luck, keep a low profile in your country until you are able to leave safely...

This comment is racist beyond belief. Beyond what you may think of immigrants most of them do come to the country speaking english... Especially if they come from Saudi Arabia aka the Richest Nation in the world.. most of Saudis probably speak english also because they usually are in business.....that is just a generalization of course but wholly fuck ignorant

I agree.

Come to Canada.

We'll welcome you with open arms.

hey come to Canada you are more then welcome and can get easy acces if you are gay and coming from your country and choose Montreal as your palce to stay

^^^^^^^^Well said,

talk about ignorance!!!

Finish your studies and try to cope. Then leave as quickly as possible. It doesnt have to just be those 3 countries, but all three will be like safe havens for you as the people are not oppressed. As a gay person you'll find a better life in a more modern society.
We'll be waiting for you.xxx

Well i had the same situation as what you're going through right now, i'm not from Saudi though, the only advise that i can give to you is, first don't come out yet until you're settled in another country cause i think they will put you in "hormone therapy" if they found out you're gay which sounds stupid and full of bullcrap. So i suggest you focus on being a competent Radiologic technician and learn a lot of things about it. I know it sucks that you have to go through it everyday in your life, but trust me once everything comes in place it will get so much better that you'll appreciate how gays are "PRECIOUS IN A UNIQUE WAY". . Yikes i talk to much, gotta shut up :D

We have no reason to doubt the authenticity of Gaykitten's bona fides. Let's try and be helpful with his situation. He's asking for our help. And yes, his English is very good. Much better than most of our Arabic, I'm sure.

I think this is the only option you have.
Study hard and try to immigrate to other country.

Once successfull living in another country tell your family about your personal life or forget about them as they are no longer your friends/family.

One big advantage you have is your English and your qualification.

Gaykitten, I can well imagine how you feel about life in Saudi as I've spent enough time there to realize how close-minded, and violently homophobic the country is. You should finish off your studies and emigrate.

The US, however, may not be the best place and I'm not saying that because of gay marriage or DADT. Growing up and living in the Muslim world, these causes seem so far advanced that while I support them, I don't really relate to them. The issue with the US is LGBT immigration equality, and even if you do not seek immigration as LGBT, the immigration system is broken and it takes forever to get permanent residence and citizenship.

If you have the option, I would suggest Canada or Australia. I have spent some time in Canada and it may not be an exaggeration to say that I first came to terms with being gay walking along Church St. (Toronto Gay District) and realizing that gays are regular guys - not the malevolent social evil you've been conditioned to believe in the Muslim world.

So yeah, look at grad schools in Aussie and Canada, and process your immigration from there. You will be a citizen in 3-5 years, and Saudi Arabia, with all its social, emotional and religious baggage will be a blip in the radar of your past.

find out which country give you the citizenship the quickest, go to that country.
