Isn't that another possibility? Both attackers are black, their victim is white. Perhaps her skin color was part of the reason she was targeted. Unfortunately there are tons of blacks out there just waiting for a reason to stomp a white person down, being transgendered could've been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Then again, I'm discussing this more like someone who wants to get to the truth, less like someone who has already made up their mind about WHY this occured. No one is disputing that a violent attack occured, or that punishment should be handed down. Did you not read where I wished that the girls would be forced to speak to elementary kids about LGBT tolerance as part of the term of their conviction?

I'm a reasonable guy, I'm an empathetic guy, do you REALLY think I'm sitting here celebrating with a bottle of Moscato about this attack? This could have happened to someone I know, it can happen to me. I'm openly gay and I live in the south where gossip is like oxygen. Peaceful, violent-free societies are possible to a larger extent than we see today. I dunno how to make that happen but walking around angry all day doesn't seem to be the ticket to Pacifismville.

I know this won't win me any fans but I'm a firm believer in leveled justice. I wanna know the reason for the attack because I believe motive should be considered in prosecution. Ironically, we're all in agreement on this since you all believe that if this is a hate-based attack it should be charged as such. So there's something we agree on. I believe that a person who lived a normal, happy life should not receive the same punishment as someone who was beaten and raped by their stepfather growing up. THAT is why I want more details. Were they fighting cuz they're church-goers who disapprove of tg people or because they thought the tg woman looked at them the wrong way. No one knows yet, or if you do please come forth with this information.

THIS is your problem! You see the situation as either/or. Just because I don't hate the attackers doesn't mean I support them in any fashion, and it doesn't mean I have no compassion for the victim. I certainly do, but what point is there expressing it? She's not on JUB right now, am I supposed to post grievances so I can win all your approval? Not gonna do that.

But, to give you some context, I'm not a hateful person. If Hitler were alive I wouldn't hate him. What he did was despicable, but my very point is that what he did is what happens when hatred escalates. Are you surprised that I'm not anxious to get on that train?
