lol
the movie was good, im not a huge flashback movie watcher w/ narrarator

I thought this movie STUNK!! Except for Joseph Gordon Levitt who was good and so sexy in this movie there wasn't anything good about this movie. Zooey Deschanel was good but her Character, Summer was SOOO annoying. The only good part of the movie was the last 5 minutes of this movie.

I saw it today and thought it was very realistic in portraying relationships. Yeah, Joseph-Gordon Levitt was the standout of the movie and his charm and the chemistry between him and Zooey Deschanel made the movie.

To say that there was no redeeming factor of the movie is kind of harsh, but perhaps you were too focused on Levitt the entire film? There were numerous original moments (breakout dance sequence -- did anyone else notice the people were all wearing shades of blue? -- and the split screen between expectation and reality). The writing was really good as well.

You also see female protagonists in love with male leads but the reverse is in 500 Days of Summer; Levitt is the one who believes in love and falls for a girl who doesn't. The experience of their relationship, both good and bad, shape him as a person and he grows from that.

It's not just a typical rom-com, not by any means. Sure, it's cute and sweet at some parts but the film shows the emotional downs as well, and does it in a way that we care about the character (Levitt) and leaves us wondering what will happen in the end (which I really liked, btw).

Overall, really good movie. I'd recommend to see it with a friend or a date. ;)
