NightRaider
JUB Addict
Alright here it is a Saturday night and it has been raining all day and now evening and still raining. It's about 9:30 PM and I called a friend to see if they wanted to see the 10:00 PM showing and they werent home so I said fuck it and put on my coat and went to the theatre. Getting there I say to the ticket girl where is everybody? She says it's been quiet all day and evening probably because of the rain. So I thought this is OK. Not a packed theatre. So got my popcorn and something to drink and into the theatre.Ok here is my take on the movie. Did I like it? Yes. But did I think it was fantastic or a great movie? No.
Although I did like the movie I don't feel it was great. However I think it will probably get an Oscar for something. Maybe the Direction even though I thought the direction was a bit flaky jumping from time to time never being in detail about things that would I think would be important to a gay person.
Although set in the 60's and 70's I understand the homophobia that existed and being out at all was non existent I see this cold character named Ennis. Although a product of the times and being married I just didn't see a passion towards Jack and for that matter his wife.He just to seem to be about himself. Towards the end and after Jack's horrible death Ennis seemed to show some compassion and maybe a bit of love or fondness especially in keeping a shirt and jacket of Jack's was touching.
Jack showed much more compassion and love for Ennis that for me just didn't get returned. There truly was sadness. Jack wanted a love in his life in Ennis but Ennis just didn't return it. Would I see it again? Maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way to.
I think this movie will pave a way or open up some doors for future films featuring gay characters. This movie was nicely filmed and had just a few and i do mean just a few scenes that touches the heart. Hopefully in the future there will be more films about us. Our lives and just how good and bad we can be in comparison to our straight constituents
