Hi guys!
I'm scared of a possible HIV infection. Even though I have tested with Oraquick for more than 8 times, some strange symptoms keep coming back for no reason.

Here's my situation...
A year and a half ago, I decided to try bottoming for the first and only time. It was a traumatic event for me as I didn't know the guy (met him on Grindr) but I was very prepared with all the precautions. Thing is, while bottoming, condom broke and he stayed inside for a minute or less. Anyway the same day, I started having Diarrhea, which I know it's not a seroconversion symptoms as they appear 3-4 weeks later.
Some weeks later I started feeling my lymph nodes numb, then a sore throat, dry mouth and white tongue, sore tongue, which all of them came one after another for a couple of weeks.

After 3 months I decided to test using Oraquick and actually bought 2 of them. Both negative so I set my mind to peace. A few months went by and a Labial herpes appeared and tongue still sore all the time. I have had herpes before so I didn't really care. After it was gone, a week later it came back.
They are getting frequent now. After 3 more months I tested again with Oraquick, still negative. A year passed by and still negative. Herpes does come back now and then and my gums started hurting, so I went to the dentist to check on them. He said gums problem was because of a still developing wisdom teeth, so I had it removed and have not had any gums pain or bleeding since them.

Now, after nearly two years, I keep getting herpes on my lips, a slightly sore tongue and the last couple of days my small pimples appeared all over my body (They don't really resemble the hiv rashes you see on google images) but they are itchy and slightly red.
I have no idea on what's going on now... Can someone help me set my mind to peace?
Thanks and sorry for the long post!

I have to specify something, the recurring herpesis not really like the usual herpes, but a red and burning sensation (and exfoliating skin) in the middle of the top lip.

Oral herpes infection is very common- about 70-80% of the population are carriers- and it is easily treated. What you've described is something larger than the common herpes simplex that the majority of the population experiences. Your level of anxiety is out of proportion with the severity of your herpes infection.

What you're describing sounds like hypochrondriasis, which is often dismissed by clinicians. However, it is a treatable condition - which manifest both as anxiety and actual physical disorders. It is often a symptom of an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and it should be treated as such.

Once the possibility of disease is eliminated (for example, via STD testing) and any disorder found is treated, then it becomes apparent that the underlying OCD is the cause. It's time that you discussed your anxiety with your physician and you should look into working with a therapist who specializes in anxiety disorders and OCD treatment.

Hi KaraBulut,
Thanks for your reply. That is something that I have thought about having and hearing it from someone else does help a lot. Its nearly impossible to find professional health care where I live. I will leave this episode behind and relax. Thanks again!

Your ability to recognize your hypochondria is an important first step. Once your Doctor and the tests have eliminated disease, remind yourself than your continued anxiety is the disorder. Are there any obsessive-compulsive therapy groups in your area? I believe the alcoholics annonymous organization has groups for compulsive gambling; perhaps they have other groups.

I suggest that you schedule a follow up with the Doctor, 2 or 3 months in the future. Then fucus on not worrying in that period. You will know that if there is a problem the doctor will find it next time. This should help you to stop worrying.

There are none. My family worries too much about getting sick and maybe thats what has been driving me to feel this way. I believe since after more than a year my results are negative i should consider letting go and living without worry.I have not worried at all these days and i feel so much better. This is the right way :)
Thanks for your support!
