Sec. Powell Infers Republicans Are Afraid of Party Leader Limbaugh

Do you like that your party rallies around a racist, homophobic bigot who says anything he wants without thinking?

I mean, at least we have a competent leader for the democrats. You guys have a pill popping adict, who probably buys whores to fuck him cause no one else will.

I just love all the assumptions you guys make . First of all it is you who says the Republicans rally around the talk show host. Not the elected Republican leaders. And careful who you call racist as if my memory serves me right, our current President is busy digging himself out of a self inflicted racial issue that he couldn't help but stir up and it has detracted from his primary legislative goals.

And I don't know who you are referring to as the competent Democratic leaders. It certainly can't be the Congressional democratic leaders and the President is quickly showing that he is in over his head.

no apologies necessary

i post like i post - and have always - kind of a stream of consciousness

sorry if it causes a headache - thanks for reading - tylenol works best for my headaches :)

not so sure pres obama is doing "fine"

i think he is trying to do too much and his personal appeals are overkill

he should be on tv LESS

absence makes the heart grow fonder

No problem, I'll get used to it, and buy another liter of Jamesons.

01solara, I've worked my ass off since I'm 14. Put myself through college and law school. I now make a good living. I don't have children, but am happy to pay taxes to educate other people's children. I'm happy to pay taxes that provide for the social welfare of our society, and to build infrastructure.

The rich have never had it so good since the Gilded Age. They need to stop whining about all the taxes they pay. The rich have grown fat off of an economic system that became the richest in the world off the exploitation of millions of people, no billions of people. It is a small price for them to pay to be able to maintain their good fortune.

The cop was a fuckhead. Plain. Simple.

The President shouldn't have backed off his stupid comment. The officer was/is stupid.

wow

the cop was a fuckhead - and that is plain and simple

says the ghost

and the president was correct in jumping to conclusions

says the ghost

well quite simply put ..............

the officer was the one who was "racially profiled"

his record speaks for itself

he teaches a course on racial profiling

he had the backing of black and hispanic cops from his dept - re: him and his handling of the situation

he administered mouth to mouth to reggie lewis, star nba player for the boston celtics, who tragically died

gates on the other hand, went on TV right away spouting his "racism" bullshit

one of the 2 men - make that one of the 3 men involved here - has handled the situation properly - that is crowley

doesn't make him a saint
doesn't make him a hero

and for you to call him a fuckhead only speaks to your teensy weensy mind

and your inability to see anything clearly or openly

the president mishandled it - he knows it - tried to fix it - people will remember his first reaction - which was to assume racism

but this thread is about rush

not obama's "rush to judgement"

I said the cop was a "fuckhead" not a racist. I have no idea if he's a KKK member or not, as I'm not exactly on their newsletter subscriber's list.

The man was in his own home, not causing a ruckus to anyone, save the cop in his face. Period. End of story. For all the gnashing of the teeth conservatives do about individual property rights, they sure seem double dealing on this case. The cop's individual action in this case was stupid.

the man was in his own home - after breaking in - after a neighbor reported a break in - just a small detail

the man clearly attacked the police officer with words and accusations

i don't know what happened - i was not there - neither do you

so i would not have rushed to judgment on an issue like this if i was the pres - but he did

and the ONLY reason this is a story is because Pres. Obama inserted himself into it

had he not

this mother fucker dies a day or two after it happened

assuming prof gates stopped flapping his gums

funny how he shut the fuck up after the pres. got involved

he shut down on the racial profiling, racism angle mighty quick

the police officer has been consistent the whole time as to what occurred

prof gates has been wavering

the only thing that is 100% clear here is prof. gates and pres obama rushed to judgment on the race angle

the rest is speculation

and if pres. obama's "critics" are jumping on this the pres only has himself to blame

self inflicted wound u know

maybe he should just invite all of his critics to the WH for a beer

chance I'll agree with you that Gates was a bit too quick to pull out the racist card but I don't agree with you that we don't know what happened.

A man was arrested in his own home for no other reason than the cop didn't like his words and attitude.

Out in public we all have to bow to cops but on your own property, in a country with First Amendment rights, the property owner has a free speech right to say whatever he wants.

What Obama said about the cop's actions was basically true (although I would have used the word foolishly) and I believe that those who think differently would never hold that view if it was their property the incident occurred on.

Chance, Officer Crowley's own police report stated that he saw Gates inside his house, he knocked on the door, and Gates answered the door. Do you really think Crowley would assume that someone who broke into a house would answer the door when a police officer is knocking?

Yes, as a matter of fact they would. In situations such as this, most police officers are trained to expect all occurrences, including hostages.

Great I am happy for you. Pay all the taxes you want you can even pay extra if you want but don't force me to because I am not impressed with what I get for my hard earned money. The tax system has been turned into a welfare check for people that don't even pay any taxes. People get huge checks every spring not for working but for being irresponsible and having multiple illegitimate children. The more you have the more you get. I have been unemployed for 2 whole weeks since I was 14, I am 44 now and in that time I have worked for a total of three companies. I worked a second job cleaning houses for 15 years and was finally able to make it on one job by the time I was forty. If things keep going the way they are I will be back to two jobs again very soon.

In my position at work I interview at least 50 potential employees a year. I can tell you that finding people to work for $10 - $11 an hour that are willing and or able to work is not easy. Everyone wants a job not many want to do actual work. All this education reform written by Teddy the swimmer and signed by Georgie doesn't seem to be helping and spending ever more money isn't helping either. The teachers unions and all the other lefties have ruined public education. Classrooms are now undisciplined with little or no sense of order or even standards. Social passing is rampant and there is no improvement in sight. When I was growing up on the 70s and 80s my parents told my teachers if he gives you a problem wear him out and he will get more when he gets home. Now the attitude is don't touch my precious little devil. If things don't change we are toast.

^ Only if he were Curley from the Three Stooges.

Hello hello hello! HELLO!

naked - we don't know what happened - perhaps crowley got agitated that gates was giving him the business - perhaps - we don't know

as for obama - first rule of thumb is speak about which u know - and he didn't know - really dumb mofo move - and he had to eat his words - although his mincing of words/faux apology proves his ego is massive

palemate - u try being a police officer - and get called in on a break in - then tell me what u would do - real easy to sit back and say "this/that" but first do it - then we can talk

alfie - can't wait until ur apt is broken into - let's see if u complain about the cops doing their job

bottom line is the world is upside down - it is assumed cops r in the wrong - when they have a very difficult job

perhaps crowley did not handle this perfect - i admit that

but gates is more guilty here - he could've difused it - he did not - he played the race card early and often - his actions post arrest are indicators of his mindset and likely actions during

my 2 cents

the ONLY thing we do know is that pres. barack obama took sides against the police and with his friend - w/o knowing the dealio

REALLY BAD MOVE

and one that will stay with people for a long time

brew get together not withstanding

Yes, as a matter of fact they would. In situations such as this, most police officers are trained to expect all occurrences, including hostages.

It is interesting to note that Sergeant Crowley has stood his ground throughout this entire episode - he has neither backed down nor apologized. Not to mention the fact that his performance at the press conference after the beer summit was very good.

Nobody seems to understand that, had he responded to the call that a home was being broken into and accepted Gates at his word (without asking for ID) and left, both he and the police department could have been sued - had there been an actual burglary in progress.

Go Chance!!! They don't like people that actually think. It's why I always look forward to what you have to say. To most of these guys centrist is hardcore right. They just don't get it.

I understand all of that but once Crowley ascertained to his own satisfaction that Gates was legally in the house he was no longer in danger of being sued and he should have left even if his feelings were a little hurt.

I understand that had Gates behaved exactly the same way in public he would have been arrested because thats how most cops are but I take exception to the same thing happening on his own property.

When he followed them outside and wouldn't shut up he was disturbing the peace. He got arrested for it and should have. He needs to learn a little respect for police officers. His brand of racial hatred is just as bad as the hatred of whites against blacks. Both sides need to let it go and move on. Alas, I do not see it happening anytime soon. It hurts all of us and I wish there were a solution.

Exactly wrong, the police serve us, not the other way around, they need to have respect for us. You don't know what happened, but the fact that there were no charges filed and the matter was dropped instantly by people who know the lae far better than you is somewhat telling.

The fact that they serve us is all the more reason they should be treated with respect. Charges being filed or not filed have no bearing on the fact the good professor was attacking the officer for doing his job. Had he been respectful instead of confrontational there would have been no problem. You lefties are always on the side of the person in the wrong. There are guilty people let off with warnings every day and you know it. Charges being filed or not filed do not prove anything one way or the other. The officer was not driving around looking for a black guy to pick on he received a call about a potential crime and was doing his duty to check it out. If Obama doesn't know the facts he should keep his big mouth shut. His mouth is what caused the whole thing to flare up and continue.

TX, donchaknow whitie is under attack from all angles of society. I mean they are such an oppressed minority, we have to give them wide latitude.

It's certain people on this forum that make me think LostLover is correct.

So do you subscribe to the theory that people in the present are supposed to pay for the sins of their ancestors in the past. If so this will create a cycle that will never end. It is past time for all races to let go and move on. I have a lot of native American ancestors on both sides of my family and they weren't treated any better than the blacks by the powers in charge at the time. I had a great, great grandmother on the trail of tears. I assure you it was called that for a reason. I have personally spoken with a houlocaust survivor as well. Blacks are not the only people ever to be oppressed, it is time for them to take advantage of the opportunities in front of them and become successful on their own merits. If the Indians and the Asians and the Jews could do it the blacks can too and if they don't it's their own damn fault.

I don't happen to see this thru a racial lens at all. To me its just another cop getting off on his authority to arrest people because he didn't like their attitude.

He wasn't arrested for disturbing the peace but for disorderly conduct which means you can't be disorderly even in the privacy of your own property when none of your neighbors are even complaining.

No doubt that Gates behaved badly but again thats his right when he's on his own property. And he followed the cop outside at Crowley's request because Crowley knew he did not have the authority to enter his house so he could not have arrested him unless he got him to step out onto the porch.

Not sure - i guess ur saying "sticks and stones .............."

Don't know how much lip Gates gave him - appears to have been a lot and racial in nature

Sounds like Crowley could've turned a deaf ear and high tailed it

Maybe

I do believe in the idea that when the cops come a calling you treat them with respect and keep it straight up

so I do hear what you are saying

I saw Gates a day later on CNN beating his chest with "I'm a black man and was wronged and this is about all black men .............." - as soledad obrien kissed his ass and offered no point counter point

so i got a look at professor gates and how he thinks

i don't have that with crowley

had pres. obama not gotten involved i don't think i would feel so strongly about it

his assumption/conclusions were incorrect

and his willingness to go there and then share it is very troubling

yes yes

the police are public servants

who put their lives on the line every day

they answer the call

it is their job to do so

but it is not a job that most people want or would/could do

clearly prof gates had no respect for officer crowley

that is clear

and perhaps officer crowley should've turned a deaf ear to the cranky professor who loves like many to play the race card as his first play ............

i know you're not a police officer - neither am i

i do know some - am related to some

very easy to throw stones at law enforcement types

you need a walk in their shoes

to appreciate the work they do
