One thing I'd like to learn how to do is to open rice bags. Those nasty, nasty stitched strings foul me up every time.

Another thing to learn? Folding fitted sheets.

Any secret tricks you'd like to learn how to do?

Juggling. I've never been able to get the hang of it. I just end up throwing things.

I need to learn the secret to packing efficiently and economically. Try as I might, when I go away on holidays, I always end up taking everything plus the kitchen sink with me.

Origami... that's what I want to learn before my death!

Origami is really quite easy and very gratifying. Did you ever make one of those paper fortune teller things?

That's origami.

These sites should get you started:

I wish I could twirl a pen between my fingers. All the cool kids can do it ;)

Wanking with my left hand ... never been able to master that one! *|*

whistling using my fingers, I learned how to briefly when I was drunk. but I can't seem to get it again!

It may be cheating, but it is the only way you get consistent results after folding hundreds of the things every day. :D

One of my peeps (in a week, that is :D) is a freaking MACHINE. She can fold shirts and pants without the board better and faster than with it. It's amazing.

Without a board, it's a modified rule of thirds. Start with shirt facing down. Fold sides in first in thirds (roughly following a little bit outside of the neck). If it is a long sleeve shirt, then fold over the sleeves inside the shirt. Then fold the bottom of the shirt a few inches, and then in half. Turn over and stack.

Fitted Sheets

Many, many years ago I did laundry for a retreat center in the Mountains. Every Sunday Night I washed, dried, and folded for 200 beds.

Easiest way to fold fitted sheets for storage:

1. Find one of the short ends.
2. Holding up your left hand, stick one of the 'left' corners over your left hand, covering it up (your hand will be under the corner at this point).
3. Find the other end of the same side (the long side) and bring it up, and flip over your hand.
4. Now find the OTHER side of the LONG end and bring it up, and flip over your hand again.
5. Find the last corner and flip over again. Now you have all 4 corners folded and flipped.
6. Lay down the sheet and straighten, folding the two top and two sides into a rectangle (more or less).
7. Fold as desired with the corners INside. Works great!

I know this sounds confusing but try it sometime. :D

(Ozguy's solution works but assumes you have lots of space. This method cuts the folding space down by 3/4 ths)

These two and also mimicking owls' sound with hands clasped together.

You might be trying to blow into the hole between your thumbs rather than over it. This is a good primer on how to do it.

(To get the 'owl' sound, open the fingers of the hand furthest from your mouth and close them again.)

fitted sheets:
have the sheet in the vertical/long direction, insert the lower left corner into the top left corner, then do the same to the right. slip your hands into the corners and lift up, getting the sheet to settle. lay flat, then lift/fold the left-hand portion to the center & do the same to the right. then fold again to fit closet shelf.
(i have the OCD advantage.) lol
;)

lol. That's cheating :p

They have a show on Australian TV called Better Homes and gardens and they showed how to do it once. But I tried ended up with a bundle of fabric in my hands and a tantrum

Or you could tryi this -
