WHY DID YOU BRING THIS TOPIC UP? Now I won't shut up. I LOVE HER. I have since hmm, probly 1994. I lived in Southern California at the time and she was the hottest thing there. Being that most of my friends were hispanic, I was introduced to her before her English crossover. Because of her, I wanted to learn Spanish. The movie is the best movie ever in the history of movies (ok, well, still). I cannot rave enough about her music, her voice, her personality...she just made you smile all the time, and I still do.

No doubt Selena to me is a legend ... I'll never forget the day she died. And they could not have picked a better actress to portray her than Jennifer Lopez. It is a shame she did not win an Oscar for her role.

I visited Corpus Christi in 2005 while I was in Texas and I had the privilege of visiting the Selena Museum (located in Q Production's recording studios) - a visit I highly recommend. It is an AWESOME preservation of her gold records, dresses, awards, pictures, memorabilia and even her Porsche! I then paid homage to her memory by visiting her gravesite - which by the way is never lacking flowers, messages and visits.

and to think Salma hyeck wanted to play selena. when she didnt get the part she got all mad and felt she could of done the part better

I grew up in Corpus. I remember finding out about her death while my mom and I were driving to our house.

One of my friends lived a couple of streets away from her house. I remember passing by there after her death. The gates were filled with flowers, teddy bears and signs. I also remember when the movie came out. They had a big premiere down at the then major movie theatre in Corpus. All the stars came down for it.

I also went to the Selena Vive concert here in Houston. It was pretty cool.

My grandmother is buried in the same cemetery as her, so whenever I visit my grandmother I try to visit her grave.

wow 13 years!!!!! i live in corpus christi and remember when it happened. was in the 8th grade at the time and remember almost everyone in school crying and in mourning

Yes She Was preparing to take the english world by storm, with the release of her debut english studio album, Dreaming Of You, but She was shot and killed by yolanda saldivar at a motel because saldivar was accused of stealing money from the Quintinilla Family, She Will Be Missed in the Latino community!!

Oh wow I can't believe it's been 13 years!!! I remember watching the standoff live with my family in the living room.

It's still even more tragic because she was RIGHT ON THE VERGE of becoming a superstar in America.

I am gonna dig out my Selena collection and listen to it now. I was just watching the film the other day. It's so sad that such a personable, down-to-earth, genuine person was taken for selfish reasons.

she is still an iconic Hispanic star.

That's so sad! I heard Selena's killer was obsessed with her and when she went to prison she was isolated because she was constantly being threatened with bodily harm.

there have been so many rumors about that

the most extreme one was that they were both lovers and Selena wanted to break it off and thats when Yolanda went crazy and shot her

but they are just rumors

I was just listening to her last night. I always loved her Spanish songs better than her English ones.

Oh Hell yes! although i do love Dreaming of You, i could fall in love, and im getting used to you.....her spanish songs kick ass
