For me it's a very adult way of thinking, and I wish more people would think like that, and not only for HIV. But assessing the risk of an action by being knowledgeable about it, and deciding if the risk is acceptable or not (alas I'm not as adult as Lex and I don't do that as frequently as I should )

In order to contract HIV orally....the semen has to come into contact with an oral fissure (cut in the mouth). However rare it may be...it is possible.... if someone cannot help sucking (sorry to be crude) on first contact without knowing the person or status - the best idea for STI prevention is the dental dam. As the condom is to anal...the dental dam is to oral. Oral risk is significantly less than most....however...it is possible...most of us have cuts in our mouths right from basic functions such as eating...etc...

It's my understanding acquired during the height of the plague in the '80s that HIV/AIDS is transmitted in the blood, and that semen is a blood product. Can someone confirm or refute this?
