Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit"

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

If Obama wins the election, IMO he should make Joe Biden the Secretary of State and John Edwards the AG.

Excellent suggestion. Biden's experience would serve him well in that role.

I am still curious who he will name his Vice President, if it is not going to be Hillary.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

And do we REALLY have to rehash the 9 months of ignorance, stupidity and plain negligence that the Bush administration showed prior to 9/11? Its very well documented.

Two Months Before 9/11, an Urgent Warning to Rice

Thanks for the link -- that's a good piece to read.

Reagan supported the mujahiden in Afghanistan - freedom fighters to him. Islamic terrorists as they would be defined today

They weren't terrorists until later on, after the U.S. had piled up insult on insult -- starting with just dropping them and cutting them off once the U.S.S.R. had been driven out. If we'd stuck around and helped them rebuild from what the Soviets had done to their country, odds are good there never would have been a Taliban or Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Really, though, it was -- as the movie says -- Charlie Wilson's war. It was a good idea, but the State Dept. and CIA lost interest the moment the shooting was done... and that was a bad idea.

Even when they were terrorists, the Bush administration "appeased" the Taliban:

Yet the Bush administration did more than praise the Taliban's proclaimed ban of opium cultivation. In mid-May, 2001, Secretary of State Colin Powell announced a $43 million grant to Afghanistan in addition to the humanitarian aid the United States had long been providing to agencies assisting Afghan refugees. Given Callahan's comment, there was little doubt that the new stipend was a reward for Kabul's anti-drug efforts. That $43 million grant needs to be placed in context. Afghanistan's estimated gross domestic product was a mere $2 billion. The equivalent financial impact on the U.S. economy would have required an infusion of $215 billion. In other words, $43 million was very serious money to Afghanistan's theocratic masters.

Bush was way out of line...a complete disgrace and embarrassment!!! Shame on McCain for not calling him on it.

I love Joe Biden. He was my pick on the Democratic side...shame he dropped out after Iowa. Yes, he would be a great Sec of State or VP. On the other hand, Edwards is quite unappealing as AG.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

The action of Bush and his speech is right of the play book of Karl Rove and 2008 election. The party of Bush will not deal with issues so attack the idea of patriotism and support for the war.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

President Kennedy said in his inaugural address, "Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate." If he hadn't negotiated with Krushchev during the Cuban missile crisis, none of us would even be here to talk about this!

Even Dubya cannot allege that the 1962 heavy-duty talks with the Soviets, resulting in their backing down and removing the missiles from Cuba, didn't work.

No, I'm wrong - he CAN allege that these things never work. He can mislead, lie and screw us all he wants, and some people STILL believe everything he says.

If he's saying that Ahmadinejad is so horrible that negotiation will never accomplish anything, and with the history of what happened in 1962 (arguably the most urgent negotiation, with direct effect on the U.S., in my lifetime), is Dubya implying that Iran is actually such a horrible threat, even FAR WORSE than the Cuban missile crisis, that negotiation cannot even possibly help?

Iran does NOT have thousands of WMD's scientifically pointed and targeted at all the U. S. strategic sites and major population centers as did the Soviet Union in the Eighties. Even Reagan, who called them the Evil Empire, and once joked about bombing beginning in five minutes, knew and observed the value of negotiation.

Dubya's policy is NEVER to negotiate with anybody, and expect that things will just work themselves out, though the contrary has been nearly 100% true since he took office.

One definition of INSANITY is doing the same thing over and over and over, and expecting an entirely different result.

Another definition of INSANITY is to fly off the handle and start throwing some nukes here and there on Persian lands. I fully expect this to be strongly considered, if not actually acted on, before 2009. Such a move would be the worst political miscalculation ever made in the history of mankind, as I feel that, between a near-global oil embargo and China being pissed enough to crash-and-trash the U.S. economy, and the inability for the U.S. to acquire some of its needed munitions and guidance systems (etc.) from manufacturers in countries now-turned-hostile, it will be the DEATH of the United States.

I think that bombing Iran would give much of the world the message that indeed the U.S. is entirely reckless and conducting itself as the Great Satan, and I think that some very powerful nations would conclude that it's time to get rid of the menace - especially if we'll be stuck with four more years of belligerent Republican rule, which I fear.

Re: Senator Biden calls Dubya out on his "bullshit

Nothing like a courageous President telling it like it is to bring out the fervent bashers for a new round of "Bush sucks, Bush sucks". It just never gets old does it?

Of course, the day after 9-11, most of these same folks were extremely grateful that a man of determination was in the White House. You know who you were. The very same folks that were glad the appeasers were not in charge!

On 9/12 we were all in shock. Boy george is not courageous. He sent our military into IRAQ to capture bin Ladin who went to Afghanistan. And 5 years later we are still there. On 9/12 we had hopes that he knew what he was doing and we all found out he was full of bullshit and lies. It didn't take long for us to realize he screwed the whole world.
