Can you think of a better word for sexual intercourse than "fuck"? It is so short, pithy, and unequivocal. How did it ever earn such a bad reputation and become used chiefly as a curseword?

It's not bad when it's used as a verb. It's bad when used as an adjective or adverb.

I know someone who uses it incessantly. I rarely hear what he's saying because of all of the 'f' words he sticks in it.

It's not as bad as now a days, it's used so often no one pays attention....say cunt or the n word and watch the fireworks tho....

One sees a lot of Internet postings like that. I wonder whether the writers really talk like that in their everyday speech? If so, it IS disgusting.

It's used more often than 'like', and that bugs the hell out of me, too. Most people who use the words don't even know they're using them.

I don't know if I'd agree with that.

I think they do know. I think most people who use a lot of such 'filler' do so when they have little to nothing much to say/add, and/or when they are too ignorant to express their anger/displeasure, or even agreements, in an articulate manner.

I find it far more disappointing than disgusting.

I am fond of the word FUCK....one of my favs.....
..as a noun...a verb...an adjective or an adverb.....

This link seems to be quite interesting (to me at least):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuck

Fuck is an obscene English-language word,[1] which refers to the act of sexual intercourse and is also commonly used as an intensifier or to denote disdain. Its origin is obscure but is usually considered to be first attested to around 1475, although it may be considerably older. In modern usage, the term fuck and its derivatives (such as fucker and fucking) can be used as a noun, a verb, an adjective, an interjection, or an adverb. There are many common phrases that employ the word, as well as compounds that incorporate it, such as motherfucker, fuckwit and fucknut.

It goes on to give ideas as to the origin of the f... word.

I would say that the word has a connotation of a sex act just to appease carnal desires as opposed to words that tame it down such as "intercourse" or "coitus".

From the Urban Dictionary-

Perhaps one of the most interesting words in the english language today, is the word fuck. Out of all the english words that begin with the letter 'f' ...fuck is the only word refered to as 'the f word... It's the one magical word. Just by its sound can describe pain, pleasure, hate and love. Fuck, as most words in the english language is derived from german ...the word fuieken, which means to strike.
In english, fuck falls into many grammatical categories:

As a transitive verb for intance ...John fucked Shirley.
As an intransitive verb...Shirley fucks.

Its meaning is not always sexual, it can be used as...

An adjective such as ...John's doing all the fucking work.
As part of an adverb ...Shirley talks too fucking much.
As an adverb enhancing an adjective ...Shirley is fucking beautiful.
As a noun ...I don't give a fuck.
As part of a word ...absofuckinglutely -or- infuckingcredible.
And as almost every word in a sentence ...Fuck the fucking fuckers.

As you must realize, there aren't too many words with the versatility of fuck...such as these examples describing situations such as:

Fraud ...I got fucked at the used car lot.
Dismay ...ahhh fuck it.
Trouble ...I guess I'm really fucked now.
Agression ...Don't fuck with me buddy.
Difficulty ...I don't understand this fucking question.
Inquiry ...Who the fuck was that?
Dissatisfaction ...I don't like what the fuck is going on here.
Incompetance ...He's a fuck-off.
Dismissal ...Why don't you go outside and play hide and go fuck yourself...

I'm sure you can think of many more examples.
With all these multi-purpose applications, how can anyone be offended when you use the word. We say use this unique, flexible word more often in your daily speech.
It will identify the quality of your character immediately.
Say it loudly and proudly...
...FUCK YOU!

This thread fucking sucks

I would say that the word has a connotation of a sex act just to appease carnal desires as opposed to words that tame it down such as "intercourse" or "coitus".

With a heavy implication of the recently post-pubertal sentiment of "What the hell circumstances is making my body do that and why."

Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on. Go fuck yourself. Fuck off (just don't fuck Raid! )....... Nope, even as a verb it can be bad.
