OMG. I had my first class of Baking and Pastry school tonight.

IT WAS GREAT. I felt so fancy and important in my uniform and skull cap.

And class was great. I met some people and talked to them and socialized. And in class we talked about college successful skills and servsafe. I actually took notes, asked questions, and participated on class. I was both physically and mentally in class and bad to be there. However, I had a microwave burger from the vending machine and that made me kinda sick. But I enjoyed class and I like learning about servsafe. After that's over in 3-4 weeks I go straight into baking.

But I'm enjoying it, the teachers have a GREAT sense of sarcasm. I love that. And lots of them are really funny and you can tell they love being there and the students do too. Lots of them have big dreams as well and they are working to accomplishing those dreams. Alot of students are married too or older. Only me and this other guy are 19. One girl is doing the program because her husbands job is everywhere and so is Cordon Bleu.

My uniform looked great cause I spent a hell lot of work into that too. I couldn't tie my crovet though. I had to have someone else do it >_>"

But I was just surprised how much I participated, how many questions I asked, and how many notes I took and how much I understood everything. I have never been good at school except Senior Year of High School. And even my short time at Catawba wasn't good.

It's just interesting. Servsafe is important and can make you valuable in the industry because 1 in every resturaunt is required to know it. And it's useful information for youself so you can keep yourself healthy and safe and others as well. It's kind of shocking all the things that you are supposed to do or not supposed to do that people due.

Nuking a sponge in a microwave is awesome. I'm so gonna try that.

Well, it's good you are having fun learning! :D Keep that spirit up. ;) And I do feel better in nice formal clothing too.

Maybe this is just me, but make sure you think about the questions before you asked. Because there are people in my classes that I asked stupid questions or questions that have just been explained, and it annoys me so much. It takes the instructors time to explain it again too. :( But other that that, ask away. It's good to be curious and gain a better understanding of whatever you are learning. :D

I asked if you are supposed to wash off mushrooms because I hear it changes the taste.

You are supposed to use a damp cloth to clean them individually. Or dust them off.

And I asked about defrosting a chicken and if you are supposed to circulate the water or just soak in cold water.

I asked if using a rice cooker is an exception to leaving food out since rice keeps the food warm

And I commented about how things you find in food about how I've found a baby caterpillar in a healthy choice tv dinner before.

The class did not seem negative and some other questions were asked after I asked something.

And even if I do annoy people I like that I am asking questions. I am just somewhat curious by nature and I want to learn about certain things. I think that they'd prefer me to be annoying, asks alot of questions, and active instead of distant, boring, and someone who hides behind the book.

But I will keep it in mind.

Actually someone did ask a question that the teacher already covered. I think that was the only pointless question asked :P

And you are right. You have to be careful so you don't take up time. I asked the questions after the teacher said, "Alright any questions before we go onto the next chapter" or "Any questions before we leave?"

I'm not just a pretty face :P

I'm not just a pretty face :P

Proof pleassseeee (that you are a pretty face ;) ) :p

Before I started college, I also think about majoring in culinary art, because I like cooking. Learn to make things tastier is awesome! But then it didn't make it. And I'm a different major now. :D

EDIT: nevermind, just saw it :D you are definitely a pretty face and more than that ;)

That's actually a saying that someone I know says. And he definitely is a pretty face and more :D

Well the thing that people understand is even if you want to go into culinary you don't have to cook, bake, or make things. You can get in on the business side of it.

Also. There is a big difference about becoming a culinary chef or becoming a baker/pastry chef.

From what I hear most people are either more comfortable with culinary or pastry and baking. Even though they both involve food the process is very difference and not many people are equal at both and people usually prefer one over the other.

And like I said. There is always the business side of it.

What major are you doing now?

Ha, well thank you.

What major are you doing now?

I'm majoring in ..... Chemical Engineering. ^_^ Cooking food and chem engr are both chemical process related right? And there is also a business side for Chem Engr too! :D

I have a soft spot for baking goods, especially when there are fruits involved. I love them! the sweet savory taste, the smell too. (but I never eat too much of it though, a little at a time is enough) The bakers are usually hot in their uniform too :p

One day when you got famous, I can brag with other people that I knew you when you just started out. ;)

Thanks Quanchi.

Wow. Chemical Engineering. Studying and eating food? :D

I love to make pastry's. I just don't like to eat them that much. One of the instructors is like me. She said she doesn't really like to eat pastrys that much but she loves to eat ice cream.

I love Ice cream, slushies, popsicles, smoothies, shakes, and etc. I like products that involve pasteurized milk, ice, and some kind of fruit flavoring :D

But it's more fun to make pastry's.

It does sound kinda hard though. I already know that one day we will have to make 3 different types of cookies before class ends. One of the teachers said we're bound to cry too and that if we go back to the freezer she won't judge or ask why >_>"

OH HELL YEAH. There are tons of guys at the school who look fucking hot in their uniform. Maybe one day I'll be like, "Oops I dropped my thermometer" *bends over to get it*

And like I said some of the teachers are hot too :D

I like learning about ServSafe but I'm kinda of cautious on food now. So many damn diseases out there related to common foods and the main factors are who supplies the food, someone not washing their hands, or time temperature abuse.

And "Ready to eat food" can be the most dangerous because if that's infected your fucked. I'm gonna be cautious of ready to eat food I buy.

And coughing up worms from bad fish or getting amnesia and dying from shellfish. God damn T_T"

Gonna be damn careful where I get my food and where I eat now.

Haha. I don't think I'll ever really get that famous. But thanks. Wherever I end up in life I'll definately always remember my friends and the people on JUB :D

Glad to hear that is going so well for you. :gogirl:

I remember looking into a cooking school for a friend that wanted to take classes for fun but it just did not make sense at the time to spend thousands of dollars to make gourmet pastries for fun.

It all looked very good though.

A friend of mine wants to do the culinary arts and he is damn good at cooking. However he can't afford it. What he is doing is going to business school first. Then once he has enough money he will go and take the classes. I guess he wants to open and run his own resturaunt.

Alot of people want to do that. But actually working at a half resturaunt I have an idea of what it would be like. I'd rather be a pastry chef or baker.

But I got a fucking 75 on my first quiz for chapters 1 and 2 of servsafe. I'm really pissed off cause I studied like hell and to the point where I was seriously getting hyperventilated even during the quiz I was kinda of spassing out because I was so stressed and nervous.

And I missed 2 questions because of that. But no one in the class really got a high grade. And 6 of the questions were really bullshit but the rest I missed just because it's kind of hard for me to remember the names of diseases and parasites that have a very complicated name and are exactly alike except for one or two symptoms -_-

We are on chapter 3 and 4 now though and I am gonna make sure the next quiz or test we take I'll get a 90-100 on it. We are out of the diseases for a while.

And I got to learn about the finger condom. LOL. I can't imagine anyone wearing that.
