So I just had unprotected sex with a guy who is HIV positive.... He has an undectable load though... and we had sex a few hours after he took his meds. He didn't cum very much and not all of it was shot inside me.... I'd like to know what are the odds that I got HIV..... This was a 1-time thing... never gonna do it again. But I need to know......

I don' think any one can be precise. If his virus is at an undetectible level, it is not necessarily non existent. I think you shoud see a Doctor who can give you the medicines which can stop the virus, if you have been infected. Let him guide your decision. And do it at once. You are gambling that your friend really is undetectable, and that, even so, you did not recieve an infection. It is not worth the risk.

Im 18, and live with my parents... I can't let them know and I can't really get the doctor

Please be a troll otherwise, my day would have been ruin. I suggest you did what the above poster said, go to the doctor and get PEP as soon as possible, even if the load is undetectable (how would you know btw?) I suggest you still go!

If you're in the states, contact your county's health clinic and make an appointment. There should be no charge for any services and maybe even free meds.

Second, if you're insured make the appointment yourself. If your parents find out say you had a sore throat, sinus infection, bronchitis, etc.

Also, if you're enrolled at a university, go to their heath clinic.

Please do one of these sooner rather than later.

I'll leave the admonishment to others.

Okay I understand that it was wrong for me to join at 17.... but seriously.... I'm 18 now and this is kinda serious...instead you ban me and try to screw me over....anyways
I've done some research and read that the pills Truvada will destroy it, if I really do have it... So he gave me 28 of the to take for 28 days... I started taking them yesterday... today I took the second one and I started taking them before the 72 hours ended. Also yesterday I took a HIV test and it showed I was negative.

yeh. taking medications that are intended for someone else based on reading something on line makes perfect sense. The hiv test you took is only going to give you a baseline. it's too soon to tell whether you were infected by this guy. You're making terrible decisions that are going to have life long effects. STOP playing doctor and get your ass to a doctor immediately. antiviral drugs need to be monitored and self medicating is only going to make things worse.

Steven.

1. No Im not a troll... IDK what would make you think that...
2. I did not get the HIV test from a doctor, I got one at a CVS and I know its too early for good results but it's a start.
3. I've already started taking the pills. I'm not taking any other meds and I am in perfectly fine medical condition.

Wow, if you were the one getting fucked, you very good chance you were infected, cause the ass bleeds easily, his hiv receptors, plus in a study they found someone maybe undetectable but in some men HIV was good as unchanged in the semen. You better ask for PEP.... It is worrying guys are so clueless about hiv, they are exposing themselves and others...

Undetectable viral loads in blood is not a guarantee that HIV is also undetectable in semen, according to a new study involving 101 HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) conducted in Boston and published online ahead of print by the journal AIDS. Of the 83 men with undetectable virus in blood samples, roughly a quarter of them—21 MSM in total—had semen with detectable HIV.

He gave you pills... in other words, he is now worried you will report him to the police for knowingly infecting you with HIV, if you go to the doctors....How do you even know the pills are real? Let me guess he is now telling you he loves you e.t.c In my opinion he tricked you and with full knowledge he was infecting you. You are so young. I am guessing he is older than you too.

There are a few websites where guys meet up on a forum and talk about infecting negative guys for fun and see having H.I.V as a turn on. This should be a warning to all guys on here whether this story above is real or not. People with H.I.V suffer enough stigma as it is.

Don't put it on us! You are screwing yourself with your choices. The tragedy here is that you're only 18. At this pace you will get a serious STD by your mid 20s if you continue to rely on internet forums for medical diagnosis and treatments. Seek professional help. Don't take someone's HIV meds hoping for the best...they're not over the counter vitamins that carry no serious side effects. PEP treatment is not a one size fits all program. A medical doctor should be deciding what type of meds you need, not some asshole that barebacked with a clueless 18 year old.
I'm hearing more younger guys who rely on this new myth they're reading about no viral load in HIV+ guys means a green light for bare-backing.

No, no, and no.

I wish you the best of luck. Please educate yourself and always use protection! I've never understood why guys take the risk- unprotected sex doesn't not feel that different from one with a condom on. For those who say condoms hurt, I'm pretty sure the pain from the meds and being in the hospital as the disease progresses is much worse.

At the top of this forum, is a statement "Serious discussions about your health. No flame zone!".

It's been a while since I've had to remind members posting in H&W about that particular policy and it's been a while since I've had to remind members that the solution to personal attacks is to post report the attack to the mod team, and not to return the personal attack.

If there's anyone here who didn't do stupid things when they were 18 (or claimed to be 18), please feel free to throw the first stone.

Until then, this thread is closed.
