sexuality and music taste

do you think that sexuality has any effect on one's music taste or might influence it at all?
 
Not for me, I listen to just about anything and everything, except for the typical gay music, i.e. the musicals, the spears' of the world, all the 'diva' artists I hate. I like hardcore rock, rap, and a little country here and there. For me, my sexuality is not a deciding factor in the music I like, if I enjoy it I'm going to listen to it.

But seriously I doubt it-I like Barbra Streisand because my Mom loved her and used to play her music, not because I am gay. Of course maybe it was the young exposure to Babs that made me gay? (joking)
 
i think its cultural and a result of what you are exposed to

alot of gays get really into club scene music, but i think its just where they hang, not genetics or anything

I am really diverse in my interests musically
 
I like dance music :D but just about everything else too

yes. there must be a reason why some artists are more popular with people of a certain sexuality. as a teenager Madonna used to make me feel good about being a little faggot. a lot of gay men hate eminem because he of homophobic lyrics but others love him because he is a sexy fucker.
 
Country, classic rock and modern Irish for me... so no, don't really think so. At least not in my case. I'm sure there are guys who feel they need to love Stand By Your Man or I Will Survive because they're gay, but I'm not one of them.

I don't think sexuality really has a whole lot to do with who and what you listen to. It's like everything else, its a matter of taste and what you yourself like.
 
I love hardcore punk and singer-songwriter stuff, so I dont think sexuality is too big of an influence. I think that since people might always be around the club music it's what they feel most comfortable with, and that's more of the deciding factor, not because they're gay.

I don't think there's too much of a connection between music and sexuality. I listen almost entirely to classical music--so I don't think that's too gay. On the other hand, classical for me includes a lot of opera, so go figure.
 
I'd love to say that it doesn't, but I like gay music.

I love pop, mostly 90s pop...Ace Of Base, Real McCoy, etc. My favorite band is The Corrs, which is basically an Irish girl group (even though their brother is also in the band). Their music is predominently pop with some rock and Celtic influences thrown in. Other than them, I'm a huge a fan of Sugababes, Shakira, Jem, Dido, t.A.T.u...

I tend to like music that's a little obscure - if not completely unknown - in the US.
 
Hmmm... I pretty much only have modern/college rock and alternative stuff in my collection. The most un-modernrock thing I own is Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits.

Otherwise, it's all the various cultivars of moden rock from The Sisters of Mercy and the Cure through Candlebox, Tantric, Fallout Boy and all the bastions of grunge and what followed.

Don't think there's a connection in my case. I like a lot of music. (pop, country, some modern and classic rock)
