I love that song. I thought that momentum of "Hips don't Lie" would've made that song a decent sized hit, but unfortunately I was wrong. She looks beautiful in that video, as well.

Tat whole album is pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised.

Well I have to disagree with Ross... The video for "Illigal" sucked in my oppinion. It was poorly directed... and edited. She looked waaaaaaaaaay to blond and she could've found a better looking guy to play the boxer; they had awful chemistry in the video as well. The song was great though )

After Whenever, Wherever, people had an expectation of Shakira. Underneath Your Clothes as a moderate hit, but Objection (Tango) all but flopped. Because her first major song here was a dancy pop song, people expected every song to be like that. They don't know that Shakira is, in reality a rock artist. Her Spanish material before Laundry Service was nothing like Whenever, Wherever. That's why Don't Bother - a rock song - flopped while Hips Don't Lie - a pop song - was one of the biggest hits of 2006. Ironically, La Tortura was a bigger hit in the US than Don't Bother.

So, it looks like if Shakira wants to be successful in the US, she'll have to stick to dancing.

When I saw the title of the thread, I actually thought "Shakira was an underage nude model?!" But then I thought, no not Shakira, she's "girl-next-door", she'd drop dead before doing anything like that especially since I heard her parents are all goody-goody.

Even if "Illegal" wasn't a hit, I bet she's still happy of the fact that "Hips Don't Lie" went to #1 in just about every country on the planet, making it one of the few biggest hits for this century.

And if "Hips Don't Lie" is gonna remain her signature song for the rest of her life, she'd better be able to move her hips until she's like 80 or whatever, LOL.

What Do you guys think?, i like it, i think she does it justice, i like how she starts it off, she put a very unique sound to it, then she just rocked it like it was meant to rock!

Didn't care for the beginning but didn't mind the rest. Guess that was her interpretation though & to each his/her own.

I actually really like this cover, not as good as the original, but i really like how she puts a latin feel to the beginning of the song.

wow, i dont know why ur hatin on it, i find it very exciting when artists of a certain genre in this case Latin music, cross over and embrace a different genre of music, i love it!!

Obviously she didn't learn anything from Celine Dion's romp on stage with Anastacia and their "spin" on AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" at The VH1 Divas Concert 5 years ago.

It's similar to other Shakira songs - first listening, you're left thinking "wtf" but after a few more listens, it really grows on you.

The howl and the heavy breathing are favourite bits of mine :P
